Former Denver Broncos QB Sued for Scandalous Reasons

There are seven rounds in the NFL Draft, so it’s not weird for teams like the Denver Broncos to have a high turnover rate regarding their rosters. After all, not everyone can make it into the league as there’s always an injection of talent that could replace underperforming players.

Some drafted players who don’t live up to their potential usually stay professional for a year or two before they get released. Fans don’t usually hear about these players after they fail to make their NFL dreams into a long-term reality.

However, this isn’t the case for Chad Kelly. The Broncos’ seventh-round selection is once again making headlines. Unfortunately, his return to relevance was in bad taste.

Former Denver Broncos QB sued for wrongful dismissal claim

After Kelly missed his chance to make it in the NFL, he now plays football north of the border in the CFL for the Toronto Argonauts. However, even his stint in Canada may crash and burn after he gets sued for wrongfully dismissing one of his former employees.

Denver Sports’ Andrew Mason wrote more about the scandal:

As first reported by TSN, Kelly was named in a wrongful-dismissal lawsuit filed by a former Argonauts strength-and-conditioning coach.

The suit was filed in Toronto on Tuesday.

The plaintiff in the lawsuit alleges that Chad Kelly “repeatedly sought to initiate romantic connections… by asking [her] out on numerous occasions. Despite [her] polite refusals, Chad persisted in his advances, displaying a pattern of behaviour that raised concerns.”

The lawsuit also included another incident where he accused the plaintiff of being romantic with a coworker, with Kelly saying that he was eager to see the plaintiff fired. The Argonauts did not renew her contract.

This was not Kelly’s first brush with the law. He effectively killed his NFL career after being arrested for trespassing.

The Denver Broncos selected Kelly with the 253rd pick of the 2016 NFL Draft. Kelly played for Clemson and Ole Miss in college, where his best season was his junior with the Rebels. If the lawsuit does push through, Chad Kelly can say goodbye to his professional career.
