Yesterday, the Kansas City Chiefs worked out three wide receivers in hopes of signing one to solidify the lack of depth at the position on the team's roster.
The receivers consisted of ex-Giant and thirteen-year veteran, Amani Toomer alongside D.J. Hackett and David Terrell.
Kansas City's front office has been dissatisfied with the lack of quality receivers behind star Dwayne Bowe. Wide receiver Mark Bradley has proven to be a decent deep-threat and 36-year-old Bobby Engram is still solid but past his prime.
With quarterback Matt Cassel now at the helm, and veteran tight end Tony Gonzalez in Atlanta, the offense needs a reliable, possession receiver.
Today, profootballtalk.com reported that the Chiefs decided on Toomer, signing him to the team. The terms of the deal have not yet been specified.
It is expected that Toomer will replace Bradley on the depth chart and become a dependable target for Cassel, and a mentor for the young receivers.
