Reggie Williams, a former standout at the University of Washington, is trying to get another shot at playing professional football.

According to Danny O’Neil of the Seattle Times, Williams is going to try out for the Seahawks during their upcoming mini-camp that starts Tuesday.

Williams was a first-round selection in the 2004 N.F.L. Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars.  Since entering the league, Williams has had an up-and-down career.  His best season came in 2007 when he set the Jaguars single-season record in touchdown catches with 10.  The following season, he had just 37 total receptions.

Off-the-field issues haven’t been common for the wide receiver, but they haven’t been nonexistent either.  Williams was arrested twice in 2009 for drug-related charges, but both were tossed out.  Also in 2009, he pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance after a small bag of cocaine was found in his possession after having to be calmed by a Taser upon getting into a fight with off-duty police officers at a night club in Texas.
