In not-so-shocking news former Jets General Manager Mike Tannenbaum has stated that he regrets the contract extension he gave to Mark Sanchez. NESN has reported the story after Tannenbaum appeared on NFL Network’s ‘NFL AM’ and stated the following “I don’t think I would have signed a quarterback to an extension knowing that he’d have 26 turnovers,” “That might be one of the reasons I’m right sitting here with you guys.” Although quite obvious, Sanchez’s own ineffectiveness led to the whole team’s lackluster season the Jets front office was also to blame. The QB controversy that arose from the Tebow signing didn’t help to instill confidence in the already struggling Sanchez, and for that signing the Jets’ front office headed by Tannenbaum have only themselves to blame. Sanchez led the league in turnovers and had an abysmal passer rating, all coming off the heels of being given an additional $58 million for a five year extension. While Tannenbaum has stay relatively quiet since being let go from the team, he’s now openly up freely about how the Jets season fell apart. Was the horrendous Sanchez contract extension the only reason for the Jets and Tannenbaum’s demise?
