Former Kansas City Chiefs Player Meeting With AFC Contender On Eve Of Important 2024 Season
Stephen R. Sylvanie-USA TODAY Sports

Marquez Valdes-Scantling, former Super Bowl-winning wide receiver for the Kansas City Chiefs, is continuing his free agency tour by visiting the Buffalo Bills on Monday night. Valdes-Scantling is coming off back-to-back Super Bowls with the Kansas City Chiefs. Valdes-Scantling reportedly visited the Los Angeles Chargers as well earlier this week.

Valdes-Scantling had 21 receptions for 315 yards and one touchdown this regular season. He was a crucial part of the Chiefs playoff run last season and caught a touchdown in the Super Bowl against the San Francisco 49ers. He had two receiving touchdowns as well in the 2022 NFL Playoffs.

How would Valdes-Scantling fit in with the Buffalo Bills if he were to end up signing there?

Marquez Valdes-Scantling Career Summary

Valdes-Scantling was drafted in the fifth round of the 2018 NFL Draft by the Green Bay Packers. He spent the first four seasons of his career in Green Bay before signing with the Kansas City Chiefs for the 2022 season. His time in Kansas City has gone as well as it possibly could with the veteran wide receiver winning two championships in two years with the team.

The best season in the career of Valdes-Scantling came in 2020 with the Packers when he set his career-high in receiving yards with 690 and receiving touchdowns with six.

Valdes-Scantling has 186 receptions and 16 touchdowns over his NFL career.

What Would Valdes-Scantling Bring To Buffalo In 2024?

The Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs are no strangers to meeting one another in the NFL Playoffs. These teams have faced off in four of the last five postseasons. Kansas City is 4-0 in those instances. Buffalo’s offense has taken a sizable step back during the 2024 NFL Offseason. Star Wide Receiver Stefon Diggs was dealt to the Houston Texans and Wide Receiver Gabe Davis signed as a free agent with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Buffalo is heading into a critical 2024 season with a receiving corps consisting of Khalil Shakir, Keon Coleman, and Chase Claypool. Valdes-Scantling, if he were to sign with Buffalo, would be another veteran pass-catcher for Quarterback Josh Allen.

How Would Valdes-Scantling Leaving Impact The Kansas City Chiefs?

Valdes-Scantling was deemed expendable for the back-to-back champions when they signed Wide Receiver Marquise Brown and drafted Xavier Worthy No. 28 overall in last month’s NFL Draft. The Chiefs won another championship last season with a wide receiver room that was objectively league average at best. Brown and Worthy provided the Kansas City Chiefs with a massive upgrade at the position.

Valdes-Scantling will provide a boost to whatever team ends up signing him this NFL Offseason.
