The Palm Beach Post is reporting this evening that former Miami Dolphins wide receiver Jabar Gaffney has been suspended for two games by the NFL. It is not currently known what the reason for the suspension is. This might explain why the Dolphins, a team in need of help at the wide receiver position, waived Gaffney two days ago. Gaffney, 32, posted a career best season last year with the Washington Redskins and was expected to give the Dolphins an additional playmaker on the field. Instead, Gaffney spent six weeks with the Dolphins nursing various injuries and never contributed significantly for Miami, recording just four receptions for just 68 yards. Gaffney is free to sign with another team while serving his two-game suspension. It remains to be seen if he will draw any interest as a free agent. The Jacksonville Jaguars recently placed WR Laurent Robinson on season ending injured reserve, so they could use some veteran help.
