According to several reports this morning, former San Diego Chargers fullback Lorenzo Neal was arrested on July 4th outside of Fresno, California.
KSFN Fresno reported that Neal ran off of the road and struck a pole.
No one was hurt in the accident as Neal was the only person in the car–there was no passenger– and no other cars were on the road.
Neal reportedly failed a field sobriety test at the scene of the accident and was released into a friend’s custody since no one was hurt during the accident.
This is yet another DUI for a current for former professional athlete that calls to light the fact that DUIs for these guys are becoming an epidemic. Hardly a week goes by without another story breaking about a DUI, DWI, or accident involving alcohol and drugs.
Ultimately, pro athletes–current and former–have no one to blame for their actions in these situations than themselves.
Drunk driving is never ok, on your own, or not.
Therefore, add Lorenzo Neal to the Hall of Morons.
