Earlier this year Shawne Merriman retired from the game of football, but late Sunday night he nearly retired for good. The former NFL pass rusher had to be taken to the hospital after experiencing what is being diplomatically called a 'medical emergency.' Word is that it was actually an overdose from a combination of alcohol and unknown drugs. He was taken to   Cedars-Sinai Medical Center around 9:30 PM, was treated and has since been released. Rather than take a step back--like most people would after an experience like that--its life as usual for Merriman. He's already been pretty active tweeting about all sorts of things, only appearing to acknowledge the incident by complaining that his shirt was ruined. Yeah, I hate to say it, but if this doesn't cause him to take a step back then I will not be shocked when we hear about another incident like this involving the former Defensive Rookie of the Year.
