We’ve seen it done many times before; a college coach brings in one of his former quarterbacks who are familiar with his system. Now, it doesn’t always work, but Chip Kelly is giving it the old college try.
Dennis Dixon currently on the Baltimore Ravens practice squad, is expected to join Kelly in Philadelphia by next week. It’s also a sign Kelly is moving on from Michael Vick, leaving the veteran ready to hit free agency.
Dixon ran Kelly’s offense at Oregon until a knee injury ended his season. Dixson is the only NFL quarterback that has the knowledge of the coach’s system inside-out and wouldn’t be starting from scratch.
"I'm in awe right now," Dixon had said, via Geoff Mosher of csnphilly.com, after Kelly’s hiring became official. "I'm at a loss for words. I'm sure it was a business decision, a family decision, but it's really hard to leave the Ducks. I think he is ready for that next step.”

It comes down to how bad does Chip Kelly wants Michael Vick, and the Eagles do not want to waste time. Kelly has to make an evaluation on Vick and place a value on how much the Eagles would pay, however, if it’s a pay cut Vick would be likely heading to free agency.
Vick could choose to take a cut, but it’s unlikely with Andy Reid in Kansas City and the Chiefs would likely...
NewsTags: Michael VickPhiladelphia EaglesOn Wednesday, John Gonzalez of CSNPhilly.com wrote a column where he presented a case for the Philadelphia Eagles to retain quarterback Michael Vick, and give him one more shot as the team’s starting quarterback.
In the name of sanity, I can’t imagine why the Eagles, Gonzalez, or anyone capable of rational...
1. Quarterback The Philadelphia Eagles are expected to end the Michael Vick era this offseason. And while Nick Foles may be worth developing, he isn’t an immediate answer to their issues at quarterback. If they’re interested in keeping Foles, then signing a veteran makes the most sense. But if the new regime isn’t interested in Foles, Geno Smith may be a first-round option...
The Philadelphia Eagles have reportedly hired Virginia offensive coordinator Bill Lazor. Lazor has been the offensive coordinator at Virginia since 2010 and has an extensive resume of working with quarterbacks.
The Scranton Native coached in the NFL from 2001-2009. He was the quarterback coach with the Washington Redskins and Seattle Seahawks during that time. It appears as though Pat...
I can respect this. We all get caught up from time to time, but you just have to man up and admit you made a mistake and keep it moving.
It was unfortunate that LeSean McCoy let his personal business spill over into Social Media, but it won’t be the first or last time someone has that type of lapse in judgement.

Late Saturday night, things got hectic on Twitter between Eagles running back LeSean McCoy and his son’s mother Steph. There were complaints about child support, accusations of dirty naughty bits and more. Soon after, LeSean realized that airing all that via his verified Twitter account might not have been the best move so he did what most embarrassed athlete or celeb does after...
People familiar with the situation say offensive coordinator Bill Lazor is leaving Virginia to join the Philadelphia Eagles.
The people said Tuesday that Lazor said he will join Chip Kelly's staff. The people spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because no formal announcement has been made by the university or the Eagles.

Watching the Philadelphia Eagles play football last season must not have been brutal enough.
Zach Berman (@ZBerm) of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports that the Eagles will be raising ticket prices for the first time since 2009.
The ticket pricing will be raised from the $70-95 range to about $75-105.
Berman also noted that the Eagles ranked 11th in ticket pricing in the NFL last...
Tim MacManus of Birds 24/7 expects to see the Eagles to find another tight end at some point during the offseason.
MacManus believes that it’s time to find a “complement/eventual replacement” for Brent Celek and mentions that the Eagles “came away from the Senior Bowl impressed with Rice tight end Vance McDonald.”
Celek, 28, signed an eight-year deal worth $34.01 million...
Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick has a clause in
his contract in which he’ll be guaranteed $3 million for next year on Feb. 6.
Still, the Eagles aren’t in a hurry to make a decision on Vick’s future, as the
guaranteed money isn’t a major issue for the team. For this reason, Vick’s situation
and Philadelphia’s ultimate decision on the veteran doesn’t appear...
Philadelphia Eagles running back LeSean McCoy is known for his highlight stick jukability. Unfortunately for McCoy, he couldn't escape from one of the most bizarre Twitter meltdowns we've seen from a professional athlete this weekend. McCoy got in a VERY nasty spat with the mother of his child for all the world to see. This included McCoy calling his "BM"...
In the unending speculation about who will be under center for the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2013 season, several names have been tossed around. Is Mike Vick more likely to stay with the team in Chip Kelly’s spread offense? Will Coach Kelly like what he sees in Nick Foles’ progress?
Who knows, but it sounds like one thing Kelly will want to do is reunite with a...
