On Monday night, a Facebook fan page entitled the Chicago Bears Fans, posted a picture of former Green Bay Packers cheerleader Kaitlyn Collins with the caption “Like If You Agree The Packers Have The Worst Cheerleaders In The NFL!”. As the page is a popular place, the picture got over 86,000 likes. As Chicago and Green Bay are rivals, the comments on the page got rather ugly, rather quickly. The picture posted on the page is posted below: Former Green Bay Packers cheerleader Kaitlyn Collins was a victim of cyber bullying on Monday night and took to YouTube to defend herself (Credit: Yahoo! Sports) Collins, decided she was going to stand up for herself and posted a video on YouTube about cyber bullying. The video has no words, but shows Collins holding up a number of hand-written signs about the incident. Yahoo! Sports explains what happened next: Facebook apparently didn’t agree that the post met its definition of cyberbullying, and so did not take the post down. But as the comments on the post softened and even chastised the very idea of such a cheap shot, the Fan Page decided to take down the post on its own. “We did not see all the posts to take down the Cheerleader pic until today,” the administrators of the page wrote on Thursday afternoon. “We get hundreds of messages per day and are not always on here. The issue has been resolved. Please respect one another and do not bully on this page.” It appears as though in the end, Collins won because the picture was taken down. While I have never been a victim of cyberbullying, I do believe people need to think a bit more before they post online. Just because it is anonymous, does not mean it needs to be vicious.
