That right there is the Vince Wilfork of fish. This 62-pound mahi-mahi caught by former New England Patriots defensive end Ty Warren back in 2009 remains the record for largest of that type of fish ever snagged in the great state of Massachusetts. The Boston Globe had a tidbit about the massive lunker back when it happened that explains some of the story behind the record.According to Hairball Charters captain Eric Stapelfeld - who took this picture and helped Warren snag the fish - the state record for a mahi-mahi (was) 47 pounds. Warren and Stapelfeld, who met through their mutual friend Matt Light, caught the big fish during a Saturday boat trip around the Canyons off Martha’s Vineyard. “It’s way beyond catching a good fish,’’ Stapelfeld explained, proudly. “The odds of catching it are one in millions.’’I don't know how this got past me before, unless I knew all about it and just forgot it over these past couple years, but this is a pretty remarkable accomplishment. I just won...

Big Pete of the comments has a guest piece for your reading pleasure this morning. Thanks Pete for volunteering to do this! Let him know what you think in the comments!

Patriots Fans Pay $36,000 To Play Video Games With Gronk
At Monday’s Joe Andruzzi Foundation’s New England Celebrities Tackles Cancer Gala, three deep-pocketed Patriots fans paid a total of $36,000 to win the opportunity to play Xbox with Pats tight end Rob Gronkowski.
According to the Globe, the prize was orginally supposed to be for one winner to have a four-hour session of gaming with Gronk, but the bidding (egged on by hosts...
Matthew Slater Using ‘Next Man Up’ Mantra, Ready to Take Julian Edelman’s Spot in Patriots’ Offense If Needed
FOXBORO, Mass. — Donte Stallworth is back in New England. But he’s not the only veteran with a chance to fill the Patriots’ void at wide receiver.
When Julian Edelman went down with a broken foot during Sunday’s win in Miami, Stallworth — who had worked out for the Patriots just a week earlier — was brought in as his replacement. But the veteran receiver may need some...
Houston Texans at New England Patriots: Three Bold Predictions
There are times throughout the NFL season when we are faced with difficult decisions. For me, one of those times is now, as I make my three bold predictions for this Monday night's game between the Houston Texans (11-1) and the New England Patriots (9-3).Then again, if the decision wasn't difficult, it wouldn't be bold.Monday night's matchup is between two teams with...
Thursday Night Football Preview: Raiders vs. Broncos
Oakland Raiders vs. Denver Broncos
The fantasy football playoffs are here, so its time to make each start and sit decision count. One wrong move and you could potentially be done for the year. There are some sure thing starts in this week’s divisional battle, but there are also a few puzzling ones that most owners will have a tough decision on: such as will Knowshon Moreno continue...
It looks like the MVP race is going to come down to Manning vs. Brady. Who do you think will be more deserving when the voting starts?
Can I answer this one after the 49ers-Patriots game? There’s no question that Manning has...
Brandon Stokley is active for game against Raiders
Brandon Stokley will play in Thursday nights game against the Oakland Raiders. Stokley missed the Broncos last game dealing with a wrist injury. His return to the team will obviously boost its offensive presence but will have a negative impact on targets for tight-end Jacob Tamme.
For the season Stokley has 36 catches for 449 yards and 5 touchdowns. Denver is a 10.5 point favorite...

First-place Texans, Patriots battle
With a two-game lead on the rest of the AFC, the Houston Texans could go a long way toward proving they're the team to beat this week.
The New England Patriots, though, certainly aren't ready to concede the conference they've represented in the Super Bowl five times in the last 11 years.
These powers each bring a six-game winning streak into Monday night's showdown...
