FF Locker Room:
NFL News: The Green Bay Packers have waived former Buckeye, Brandon Saine. Saine went undrafted in 2011 and played in 8 games as a rookie. He ran 18 times for 69 yards while also catching 10 balls for 69 yards. It’s hard to believe that a running back needy team would let Saine go at this point but maybe this means they are making room for another? Possibly a guy like Ahmad Bradshaw? Or maybe it’s possible the Packers add a RB early in the draft, say someone like Johnathan Franklin? And of course it could be the fact he tore his ACL in October of 2012 and isn’t healing as quickly as the Packers would like. That’s probably it, but we can speculate, right?
Fantasy Ramifications: Brandon Saine was once a deep sleeper for the Packers but for now, shouldn’t be considered in any type of fantasy draft.

West Virginia quarterback Geno Smith is a disappointed man. He was passed up by 32 teams as he sat there in Radio City Muisc Hall Thursday night.
Considered the top QB in the 2013 NFL Draft, he learned the hard way that even though he was highly regarded, he was essentially a slight standout out of a mediocre bunch. He's reportedly decided to fly back home rather than sit through...

Packers DE Datone Jones
The first 32 picks of the 2013 NFL Draft are in the books, and the Packers struck gold (and baby blue?) by grabbing UCLA defensive end Datone Jones at No. 26.
Jones was a popular pick among mock drafts, and he was my selection for the Packers in my final mock draft released Thursday. At 6’4″ 283 pounds, Jones has the frame to add another 10-15 pounds and...
Vance McDonald is tall and rangy in the mold of the new breed of tight end flooding the NFL. He compares to Philadelphia Eagles Brent Celek. Consensus All C-USA selection at tight end and invitee to the Senior Bowl. Caught 36 passes for 458 yards and two touchdowns, despite missing three games late in the season.
McDonald has an ideal frame and height....
It’s what all football fans worry about when a star player gets a new contract. Will he still be the same player? Green Bay Packers linebacker Clay Matthews recently signed a new 5-yr, $66 million, but he says that won’t change the player fans have grown accustomed to. "As far as everything I want to accomplish, it has to do with winning ball games and setting records...
The Green Bay Packers generally remain dormant when it comes to free agency in the NFL so the draft takes a whole new level of importance. Last year the Packers went defense-heavy in the draft as it was sorely needed and this draft is off to the same start as last years.
The Packers, with the 26th pick of the draft took Datone Jones, a defensive end out of UCLA.
Jones has a great...
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Chargers have claimed former Packers LB D.J. Smith off of waivers.
Green Bay surprisingly waived Smith on Wednesday, with the move being listed as a failed physical. A source told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that the move was likely to create an additional roster spot for their draft class and undrafted free agents.
Last year, Smith suffered...

Make no mistake about it, the Green Bay Packers know that they have to address the running back position at some point this offseason and after kicking the tires on a number of veterans, it's time for general manager Ted Thompson to turn his attention toward his favorite method of player acquisition: the NFL Draft.
After an offseason that saw the Packers meet with veteran free...
It doesn’t always help to hear someone give the “I’ve been there before” speech when you’re having a rough day, but when that person is a Super Bowl-winning quarterback and NFL MVP, it’s got to help a little.

As the 2013 NFL Draft is about to begin, here are some things that have been whispered into my ear as well as some of my own opinions and predictions.

Free agency came and went without much activity for the Green Bay Packers.
This shouldn’t come as much a surprise to die-hard cheese heads because General Manager Ted Thompson and the Packers have always banked their future on the NFL Draft and the ensuing development of young talent.
