Found December 24, 2013 on Steelers Depot:
On Tuesday, the Indianapolis Colts announced that they have signed former Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Alan Baxter to their practice squad. Baxter was originally signed by the Steelers as an undrafted free agent out of Northern Illinois on April 27, 2013. He was then signed to their Steelers practice squad after the final roster moves were made just prior to the start of the regular season. Baxter stayed on the practice squad until he was released in early October. During the preseason, Baxter registered two sacks and nine total tackles in late game action. As a result of his solid effort against other third-teamers, many fans instantly declared that he would be the next James Harrison just as they did last season with Adrian Robinson. With the final week of the regular season now upon us, it's time to take a quick and dirty look at the 2014 free agents the Pittsburgh Steelers will have during the offseason. I have included a small note on each player and will dive more into each once the season is over. LB Jason Worilds - Regardless of what happens with LaMarr Woodley during the offseason, the Steelers would...

Steelers’ Final Game Bigger Than Just a Playoff Shot

Each year in the National Football League there is just one team that ends its’ season with momentum for the next one and that’s the Super Bowl Champion. So say many experts because I disagree. On that final Sunday of the regular season, there will be 16 winners. Many of those will advance to the playoffs but many will also clean lockers and head off to the offseason. The Pittsburgh...

Emmanuel Sanders wants to remain a Pittsburgh Steeler for the long haul

Sanders said he worked with the Steelers’ trainers on Tuesday and that he will get treatment on his knee Wednesday even though the players are off. “I’m not 100 percent comfortable planting on it, things of that sort, because of the soreness, so we’re just going to take it day by day,” said Sanders, who […]

Steelers WR Emmanuel Sanders hoping for return

It's not the way Emmanuel Sanders wanted to spend a portion of his Christmas Day, perched on a training table inside the Pittsburgh Steelers practice facility getting treatment for a sprained knee. The fourth-year wide receiver is hardly complaining. There's still a chance his balky knee could respond well enough for him to play Sunday in the regular-season finale against...

NFL VP Of Officiating Weighs In On Controversial Field Goal Block In Steelers Game Against Packers

NFL Vice President of Officiating, Dean Blandino, has now weighed in on the controversial field goal block that took place Sunday in the game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Green Bay Packers, and made sure to clarify that the possession of the football on the play was not reviewable action. Blandino starts off by saying that because the ball never crossed the line of scrimmage...

Steelers Offensive And Defensive Snap Counts From Week 16 – Packers

Below are the snaps counts from the Pittsburgh Steelers 38-31 Sunday win over the Green Bay Packers along with some observations. As far as the offense goes, reserve tackle Mike Adams was actually used on four snaps as an extra tight end. With wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders out of the game for the entire second half, rookie wide receiver Markus Wheaton was the beneficiary of extra...

The boys in Black & Gold rode their Tauntauns into Lambeau Field prepared to battle. The Steelers were playing for .500 and pride, but after yesterday’s run it appears the playoffs are still within mathematical reach. Pittsburgh overcame a terrible, terrible call over a blocked field goal, giving the Pack a fresh set of downs in the redzone, which they turned into 6 points...

NFL Admits Another Officiating Error, Says It Will Consider Changes to Replay System After Botched Steelers-Packers Call

NFL officiating has been under a very careful microscope this season, as it seems that there have been more errors than usual in 2013. And the league has been forthright in admitting at least some of its errors. NFL vice president of officiating Dean Blandino went on NFL Newtork’s Total Access on Tuesday, as he does every week, and admitted the officials in the Packers-Steelers...

Assessing the Steelers Playoffs Odds

Amazingly, the Steelers had everything they needed to break their way on Sunday. The Steelers took care of their business by beating the Packers in a close one. Baltimore did their part by losing big to the Patriots, Miami got bulldozed by the Bills and the Jets won. The Chargers unfortunately beat Oakland, which creates one more hurdle for the Steelers in the final week of...

Bell, Taylor Win Team Awards

They're still in it to win it, and Le'Veon Bell and Ike Taylor talk about Steelers' momentum.

Ben Roethlisberger Eclipses 4000-Yard Mark In Win Over Packers

By Matthew Marczi Though he didn’t have his most prolific game of the season in the victory over the Green Bay Packers, Ben Roethlisberger managed to surpass 4000 passing yards in a season for just the third time in his career—a mark that appears to be taken as a given now for elite quarterbacks. Roethlisberger previously reached the 4000-yard threshold in 2011 and in 2009, with...

Fantasy Football Playoffs MVPs - Wide Receivers

The Pittsburgh Steelers didn't even blink when Mike Wallace signed with the Miami Dolphins because they knew what they had in Antonio Brown.  Brown has gone 16 weeks now without catching less than 5 passes in a game.  The model of consistency!  Brown added a 6th catch this week just to charm his fantasy owners and cracked 100 yards receiving for the second time in 3 weeks...

The Terrible Podcast – Talking Steelers Packers Recap, Airing Of Grievances & More Episode

Season 4, Episode 61 of The Terrible Podcast is up and co-host David Todd and I get right into recapping the Pittsburgh Steelers 38-31win on Sunday over the Green Bay Packers. Steelers and Packers Becoming Quite the Entertaining Rivalry

In a season in which they started out 0-4 for the first time since 1968, I didn't think I'd be sitting here thinking about playoff possibilities for the Steelers (7-8), as they prepare for their regular season finale against Cleveland at Heinz Field this weekend. However, thanks to the most satisfying of victories over the Packers on Sunday evening at Lambeau Field, Pittsburgh...
