Found April 01, 2013 on Steelers Depot:
Last week it was reported that former Pittsburgh Steelers safety Will Allen signed with the Dallas Cowboys and today we have learned the contract details. Allen reportedly signed a one-year veteran qualifying contract with the Cowboys that consist of a $840,000 base salary and a $65,000 signing bonus. This kind of contract is proof that the Steelers simply had no interest in bringing back Allen, as they could have easily afforded that kind of contract which comes with a reduced salary cap charge. As I wrote recently, the Steelers are moving on to the future at the safety position as they Read more [...]

Former Steelers Safety Will Allen Says Some Offensive Players Never Drank The Kool-Aid Last Season

Former Pittsburgh Steelers safety Will Allen signed with the Dallas Cowboys this past week, and on Saturday, he was a guest on The Weekend Kickoff show on SiriusXM NFL Radio to talk with host Howard David and Amani Toomer. At the beginning of the interview, Allen, who spent the last three years in Pittsburgh, was asked to talk about what he thought was the Steelers major problem...

Steelers Selecting Jarvis Jones At 17th Overall Wouldn’t Be A Smart Decision

It's tiring to continue to see so many mock drafts link Georgia linebacker Jarvis Jones to the Pittsburgh Steelers at the 17th overall selection. For starters, the Steelers history when it comes to drafting linebackers in round one isn't overly great. Lawrence Timmons was drafted in 2007 to be an outside guy with flexibility to possibly move inside. Thank God that worked...

Quarterback Moves Could Affect the Pittsburgh Steelers First Round Pick Options

There isn’t much consensus on who the Steelers will be looking at or drafting in the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft at the end of this month. However, current moves concerning NFL quarterbacks could change the top half of the draft and cause the Steelers to have fewer of their top options available when they make their first pick at seventeen. As of now the top players being...

Pittsburgh Steelers Meeting With Houston Texans Free Agent OL Antoine Caldwell

According to John McClain of the Houston Chronicle Houston Texans free agent offensive lineman Antoine Caldwell will be meeting with the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers are in need of offensive line depth with Max Starks and Doug Legursky both free agents. So far this off-season the Steelers have re-signed Ramon Foster and are expected to start Marcus Gilbert, Mike Adams, Maurkice...

Steelers Mock Draft Exercise – First Four Rounds – List 20 Players

As much time as I spend on my mock drafts, my final one is my favorite as I usually add nine names of players that I considered in addition to my actual pick. The result of that is a list of around 60-70 players, because the last few rounds normally include a few duplicates. I like to judge myself by that list compared to the actual draft of the Pittsburgh Steelers, because the odds...

MEME cuts Cowboys fans deep

Sometimes, it's very hard to face reality. But a new MEME is floating around the web that is making Dallas Cowboys fans do just that. First this week came the realization (and the huge backlash on Twitter) that the Cowboys just guaranteed Tony Romo 55 million. Now, they realize there's another team who has more playoff wins in their own stadium then they do. With the...

Breaking down Romo's new contract

IRVING, Texas -- To fully understand quarterback Tony Romo's new contract with the Dallas Cowboys, you must understand that it's actually four different contracts. On Friday afternoon, Romo's agent fed to the media the blockbuster number: Six years and 108 million. That was the first number released into the ether. So it is destined to stick. Minutes later, I spoke...

The Cowboys Were Smart To Extend Tony Romo

WHOA. What an incendiary headline. These days it’s pretty unacceptable to write/say/do anything in support of the embattled Dallas Cowboys quarterback, but that’s what I am going to do here. I think it was a smart move to hand Tony Romo a 6-year/$108 million extension with $55 million guaranteed.

Plaxico Burress’ Virginia Home Set To Be Auctioned Off

Times are tough out here, and when you are not making the big money that you used to, they get tougher.  USA Today is reporting that Steelers wide receiver Plaxico Burress is set to have his Virginia Beach, Virginia home auctioned off by a judge. A circuit court has ordered the auction of Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Plaxico Burress’ Virginia Beach home to satisfy liens against...

Looking Back At Some Recent Steelers Pre Draft Visits

The Pittsburgh Steelers have started bringing in draft prospects for pre draft visits as Ohio State linebacker John Simon, Florida State linebacker Vince Williams, and Texas A&M running back Christine Michael all were in Pittsburgh on Monday. Teams are allowed to have up to 30 non-local players visit and as many local players who went to school or live in their metropolitan...
