wvusports.com The Washington Redskins signed former West Virginia star Pat White earlier this week. If used correctly, White could be a quality backup. Prior to his injury, White spent one season with the Miami Dolphins before having a small stint in professional baseball. After a few years training to get back to the professional circuit, White held a private workout at WVU’s Pro Day, while also getting some reps down in Blacksburg at Virginia Tech’s campus in front of NFL representatives. White, the 44th overall pick of the 2009 draft, spent most of his time with the Dolphins under the wildcat formation. Following White’s concussion at the end of the season, his positive attitude and mindset changed. White wanted to the quit the game he loved after being released by Miami in 2010. Current Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins feels that White could definitely add some depth to Washington and its leading position. “I felt like with Robert’s health where it is right now, to be able to have a guy who can do some of the thing Robert does athletically would be important, especially in this offseason time when you’re trying to stay sharp and develop your base playbook and improve your base playbook,” said Cousins in an interview with ESPN 980. While I believe can to some degree run those kind of things, the zone-read stuff is gonna be much better with a Pat White-type athlete in there who’s closer to Robert’s skill set.” More than appreciative to all of you for the love! #Friends #Family #Tweeters — Pat White (@P5White) April 3, 2013 Welcome to the #Redskins, @p5white and welcome back DeAngelo! #HTTR — Redskins (@Redskins) April 4, 2013 I am so happy, and proud of Pat White. Pat is headed back to the NFL signing with the Washington Redskins! Way to go Pat. #WVUPride!!! — Eugene Napoleon (@WVU33) April 4, 2013
