After day three went by with the Ravens only bringing back special teamer/safety Jeromy Miles, day four brought a lot more excitement. The Ravens were a busy team today, and set themselves up nicely for the rest of the offseason. Hits - The first big news of the day came when Adam Schefter announced that the Ravens agreed to a deal with ILB Daryl Smith. Smith was the leading tackler on last year’s defense, and had the team been unable to resign him, would have represented a significant hole to fill. The deal is worth $16.1 million over four years, which is a considerable bargain for a player as important as Smith is. - Late in the day, news broke that the Ravens had officially inked wide receiver Steve Smith to a three year deal worth $11.5 million.  The Ravens didn’t want to let Smith leave without signing a contract, and they succeeded.  Steve Smith solidifies a receiver corps that may still add a young player through the draft, however, this positional need has largely been addressed. Misses - Late Thursday night, Jameel McClain agreed to terms with the New York Giants that will see him in a different uniform for the first time in his career. McClain was an exemplary teammate and citizen, and grew into a very capable linebacker after starting his career as an undrafted free agent. For a man who was homeless as a child, it is great to see him finally get that pay day. He posted a very heartfelt message directed to the Ravens and their fans on his Facebook page after the signing was announced. Best of luck moving forward, Jameel. Rumors - Michael Oher met with the Tennessee Titans this morning and also has a meeting lined up with Oakland for a later date. At this point, it appears likely that Oher and the Ravens will part ways. - Washington released their starting center Will Montgomery. With Jay Gruden coming to Landover, the zone-blocking scheme that Shanahan implemented is on its way out. This is good news for the Ravens, as their transition to the scheme is well under way. Look for the Ravens to show some interest in Montgomery as a veteran to push Gradkowski. - Although the Ravens and Julian Edelman apparently had mutual interest, they never arranged a visit. Edelman has visited Cleveland and San Francisco already. Now that the Ravens have signed Steve Smith, it is more than likely that talks between these two sides will come to a halt.   You may also be interested in:Free agency day four: Smiths of different sizesLook who decided to stay in townFirst round tackles: Where are they now?
