Free agent quarterback Marc Bulger will retire.
ESPN.com reported Wednesday morning that Bulger, 34, will call it quits despite opportunities to continue playing as a backup.
Bulger eventually replaced Kurt Warner in St. Louis and played eight seasons with the Rams, making a pair of Pro Bowls and battling injuries later in his career. He had not thrown a pass since 2009.
In 96 games, Bulger completed 62 percent of his passes for 22,814 yards, 122 TDs and 93 interceptions.
