Despite being a free agent, linebacker Mike Peterson is taking part in the Falcons’ unofficial offseason workout program. Like other players in contract limbo during the lockout, Peterson could be sitting at home or working out on his own but he really hopes to be re-signed in Atlanta.

Peterson, a 12-year veteran, has been mentoring some of the younger players on the team and is helping Matt Ryan lead the informal workouts. If Peterson is re-signed, his role will likely be as an early-down weakside linebacker. Peterson was good against the run last season but slightly below average in coverage.
