As promised, here are my random 49ers observations: - The Niners passing game is better at home in almost every single way: completion percentage, yards per attempt, and touchdowns. Most shockingly, they’ve allowed only 13 sacks at home to 31 (!) on the road. This is most unfortunate for the Giants, as their defense runs on getting after the passer. - But strangely enough, Frank Gore is averaging 5.2 yards per carry on the road, and only 3.6 at home. Very interesting… - Frank Gore’s regular season break down: First 8 games: 159 carries, 782 yards, 5 touchdowns, 4.9 yards per carry Last 8 games: 123 carries, 429 yards, 3 touchdowns, 3.5 yards per carry Huge difference. Which Gore will show up? - Prior to this season, former first overall pick Alex Smith had done dangerously little to shed his “bust” label. Now he’s two wins from delivering a Super Bowl victory, thanks   to his clutch play as well as a smothering defense. Sound familiar? Before you laugh at me comparing Smith to Eli ...

Bad Weather Would Negate Niners’ Defensive Speed

From Jon Wagner…… With the possibility of heavy rains forecast for Sunday’s NFC championship game in San Francisco, the prevailing assumption is that the run-first San Francisco 49ers would have a distinct advantage over the pass-first New York Giants.
