Found November 21, 2011 on Carolina Huddle:
Before the season began, I predicted five wins. That prediction is now in serious jeopardy. On with the grades… Offense: The Panthers offense continues to score enough points that should win any NFL game, given an average defense. Some may see Cam Newton taking a step backwards. I don’t. I see the rest of the league catching up to Cam. They now have over half of a season’s worth of game tape on him. He now has tendencies that can be observed. Deangelo Williams showed flashes of what we all hoped he would be bringing this year, whether or not we will see it again is an unknown. Offensive Grade: B+ Defense: Ah yes, the defense. Allowing nearly 50 points in an NFL game is a disgrace. You can’t expect to win any ball games with that type of performance. It is painfully obvious now that the Panthers defense is lacking in one primary area…talent. The good news is, with a high first and second draft pick, and key veterans coming available in 2012, the defense ...

Cam Newton avoids hit from Auburn teammate

Lost in the shuffle of looking up the dubious defensive records set by the Panthers on Sunday was this: Lions defensive tackle Nick Fairley coming after Panthers quarterback Cam Newton, his old Auburn teammate, late in Detroit's 49-35 win. After one of Newton's four interceptions, Fairley started running to throw a block on Newton, who sort of side-stepped Fairley and kept...

Fantasy Land: Week 11 Remembered

Matthew Stafford hadn't been right for a couple of weeks. He had been OK, but earlier this year, Stafford was better than OK and has consistenly been one of the top quarterbacks in fantasy play. On Sunday against Cam Newton and the porous Carolina Panthers' pass defense, Stafford was in line for a big day. And for a while, it looked as if he'd get stood up by the Panthers...

Carolina Panthers: Position-By-Position Analysis

The key players on the Panthers' roster will remain largely intact through the 2012 season and, in many cases, longer than that. A position-by-position analysis by Observer columnist Scott Fowler: Quarterbacks: The electrifying Cam Newton has made the team relevant again. He's signed through the 2014 season, but expect the Panthers to use all means at their disposal (franchise...

Carolina Panthers @ Detroit Lions: 1st quarter running diary

FOX has the game, and have assgned the Stockton - Lynch PBP combo...again. Feels like they have become the designated Lions' broadcasters, for better or worse. Usually worse. Stockton has been showing his age, and Lynch is, well, meh. Where's Gus Johnson when you really need hmi? Lions start with the ball, and come out throwing. A long pass to Megatron just misses, as...

Corey Willaims stuffs the other Williams

DeAngelo Williams goes nowhere for the Panthers, who sit at their own 11. On second-and-11, Cam Newton finds Brandon LaFell for a gain of eight yard as the two-minute warning sounds. It's third-and-5.
