The slimmest of slim playoff hopes hung in the balance entering this week. Those hopes were still in play late into the fourth quarter before being, quite literally, punted away. Chan Gailey twice punted in situations where he could have pressed to put points on the board, once in the first half from the Indianapolis 34 and again late in the game on fourth and eight at midfield. Granted, the fourth down attempt would have been dicey, but the score and clock situation called for different play-calling. For most of this season the play calls are really what it has all boiled down to, no? The slogan for the 2012 Bills season – for fans at least – has been “why can’t they give the ball to Spiller more?” Whether against the Titans, Cardinals,  or the Colts the issue has often revolved around the decisions being made by Chan Gailey. For the record, Spiller had three touches and a fourth target in the final quarter and only accounted for zero yards (4 rushing, -4 receivin...

NFL Rumors: Does Stevie Johnson Want Buffalo Bills To Replace Chan Gailey?

If Stevie Johnson gets his way, then Chan Gailey will no longer be calling the plays on offense for the Buffalo Bills. It is not as if the enigmatic wide receiver wants the Bills to fire their head coach, but rather for Gailey to give up the play calling on offense and hand them over to someone else. Of course, Johnson wants that someone else to be starting quarterback, Ryan Fitzpatrick...

Chan Gailey says he won’t be giving up play-calling duties

After this past Sunday’s loss to the Colts, Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stevie Johnson claimed that head coach Chan Gailey needs to give up play-calling duties and allow quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick to make the calls. Gailey has come out and claimed that Fitzpatrick has some wiggle room when it comes to making his own calls. “Sometimes he does. Sometimes he doesn’t,” Gailey...

Fantasy Football Advice: Start CJ Spiller Week 12

CJ Spiller currently boasts 723 rushing yards and 336 receiving yards in the first 10 games of the NFL  season, and matches up this week with the weak Indianapolis Colts' defense. So far, Spiller has put up 124 fantasy points in ESPN.com leagues, which is 6th among all running backs. For a player that has had a couple of injuries this season, those are pretty darn good numbers...

Stevie Johnson wants Ryan Fitzpatrick calling plays over Chan Gailey

The Buffalo Bills fell to the Indianapolis Colts 20-13 on Sunday for their fourth loss in five games, and wide receiver Stevie Johnson wants some changes. 7 Things I Bill-ieve Following the Buffalo Bills’ 20-13 Loss to the Indianapolis Colts

Some things never change. Week after week it’s more apparent that Chan Gailey has no idea what he’s doing. Unfortunately, Buddy Nix gave him a vote of confidence for next year. Buffalo’s only chance of Gailey being let go is if Ralph Wilson Jr. steps in and makes the call. With that scenario being unlikely, it looks more and more like 2013 will be another season with Gailey...

Week 12 AFC East game picks: Bills at Colts

Lead writer Nick St. Denis and AFC East Daily contributors Dan Begnoche and Sean Donovan pick the Buffalo Bills' road contest against the Indianapolis Colts. Nick's take: Bills tailback C.J. Spiller is slated for a big day against a Colts run defense that gives up way too many big scampers. Ryan Fitzpatrick will be good enough, and Buffalo's rushing attack will limit...

Statistic of the Week: 45.9%

I want to be clear right off the bat, in no way am I placing the blame for this game on the defense. They allowed 13 points and just one touchdown, this loss is on the offense. In fact, the fourth quarter play-calling was almost terrible enough to deter me from maintaining the focus of this post which I had been planning on writing for a while. Feel free to skip right over the...
