Ike Taylor gets himself a pick 6 against Andrew Luck in the Steelers preseason win, 26-24.
The Steelers finished off their 2nd preseason game with a late rally lead by QB Jerrod Johnson to win the game 26-24. They are now 1-1 in exhibition, with their next game at Buffalo on Saturday, Aug 25th at 7pm. There were some nice standouts tonight for the Steelers as you’ll see here in the game recap. Jerrod Johnson, Adrian Robinson , Chris Carter, David Gilreath, and Mortty Ivy all with solid performances.
Isaac Redman did not play tonight, neither did Max Starks even though Tomlin didn’t rule them out previously.
The starters for the Steelers had what can probably be best described as an “up n down” or “inconsistent” performance overall. For every nice play their was a missed tackle, dropped pass or poor blocking attempt. Still though, it’s a progression in the preseason and we’ll look for bigger steps next week.
On the opening series there was another concerted effort to establish the ru...

The Pittsburgh Steelers take on the Indianaplos Colts tonight in their second preseason game of the 2012 season at Heinz Field and you can watch the game live on NBC. Teams are not required to turn in a full official inactive list during the preseason, but below is the list of players that are being reported as not playing tonight because of injuries.
We will update this list...
Unlike the norm, Ike Taylor held onto an INT last night for a Pick-6 that propelled the Steelers to a win.
The Steelers team that took the field last night in Pittsburgh against the Indianapolis Colts figures to look very little like the finished product it is hoped this team will become. Missing from the field were James Harrison, Rashard Mendenhall, Casey Hampton, Mike Wallace...
The Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Indianapolis Colts 26-24 Sunday night at Heinz Field in their second preseason game of the 2012 season. Below are my offensive notes from the game.
The first big run by Jonathan Dwyer was a result of great blocking by the offensive line. Willie Colon had a great block out at the second level. Fullback Will Johnson also had a great lead block on the...
The Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Indianapolis Colts 26-24 Sunday night at Heinz Field in their second preseason game of the year and head coach Mike Tomlin met the media afterwards for his post game press conference to discuss the game.
Tomlin said after the game that there is still a lot that needs to be corrected and that is part of August football. He noted that he thought...
Just over a week ago, the Steelers running back situation looked like it was on life support. Isaac Redman wasn’t practicing with a sore groin, Jonathan Dwyer wasn’t working out either and Rashard Mendendhall is not near ready to return from this ACL injury from last year. The Steelers went out and signed Jason Ford out of Illinois to help at least get some healthy bodies in...
Below are the offensive personnel packages, play counts and participation chart for the Pittsburgh Steelers week 2 preseason game win Sunday night against the Indianapolis Colts.
Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, guard Willie Colon and center Maurkice Pouncey were out of the game after 19 plays. As promised, Marcus Gilbert and Ramon Foster flipped over to their normal...

Back on June 16th, I wrote an article about ten questions that were facing the Pittsburgh Steelers as they advanced towards their first game against the Denver Broncos. As the Steelers gear up for their second contest of the preseason, it is time to evaluate the Steelers in regards to these questions to see what, if any, progress has been made.
10. Who will be...
Undrafted free agent kicker Danny Hrapmann snuck through a blocked 22 yard field goal with 23 seconds left to go in the game to give the Pittsburgh Steelers a 26-24 preseason win over the Indianapolis Colts Sunday night at Heinz Field.
The 7 play game winning drive was led by fourth string quarterback Jerrod Johnson, who was a perfect 3-for-3 passing on the drive for 59 yards...

With the absolute truck load of news and stories happening around Pittsburgh Steelers camp right now, it's hard to even think about the preseason games. I wanted to write a quick piece about the next competitor and what they might stoke out of the Steelers in this next preseason game. For an in depth Steelers centric perspective, please reference the...
PITTSBURGH -- Ben Roethlisberger still has some work to do in picking up the system of new Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator Todd Haley. The veteran quarterback had an uneven performance Sunday night against the Indianapolis Colts in a preseason game at Heinz Field as he played into the second quarter for a total of four series. Roethlisberger completed 5 of 9 passes for...
As we expected, and predicted, the Steelers were a much better test of talent against this Colts team than the abysmal Rams were in Week One of the preseason.
There were performances both good and bad this week, both as a team and individually. As the first roster cuts approach next Tuesday, which players are impressed last night?
Luck was a little jittery for...
The Steelers get their first taste of the Andrew Luck era as the Colts come to Heinz Field for the 2nd preseason game on Sunday night. Besides being a primetime game, those fans who aren’t part of the Steeler Nation will be tuning in to see if Andrew Luck can put together another nice game after a solid outing in his debut last week.
The Steelers aren’t going into this game specifically...
