Antonio Gates is five catches away from breaking Charlie Joiner's San Diego Chargers team record for receptions. Joiner is convinced the record couldn't be headed for better hands. Gates has 582 career catches going into Sunday night's home game against the Baltimore Ravens and their tough defense. Joiner had 586 catches from 1976-86, the final 11 seasons of his 18-year NFL career. Joiner, a Hall of Famer who's the Chargers' wide receivers coach, said there's no better person to break his record than Gates. Joiner describes the star tight end as both a magnificent player and a great person. Gates would have the record by now if not for painful plantar fasciitis that bothered him late last season and earlier this season. He's healthy now and back to being a force for the Chargers.

When Winning Isn't Really Winning

While watching the Chargers progress over the past three weeks, that sinking feeling in the pit of my gut has been difficult to ignore. Clearly the fact that the Bolts are winning is preferable to the losing alternative, but winning when the season is all but lost is the epitome of a double-edged... // BOLTHYPE.com

Ravens, Chargers put track records of success to test

Both teams have been overpowering in months of December and JanuaryThe Ravens enter Sunday night’s showdown with the San Diego Chargers as one of the hotter teams in the NFL, having won four consecutive games and six of their last seven. The Ravens have been especially potent in the months of December and January under coach John Harbaugh, compiling a 12-4 record since 2008.

Week 15 TE Rankings: Gronkowski Is Tops, But Gates Has The In

Week 15 could see more value out of the TE/FLEX spot (if you play a TE at FLEX, of course) depending on who you own, and one of those names who is not the number one TE, is Antonio Gates. The Ravens have given up at least one score—in garbage time—two weeks in a row to TEs who are not exactly marquee guys, but prior to that, the Ravens struggled to handle the better TEs in the...
