The New York Jets (3-2) went into the Georgia Dome and beat the (1-4) Atlanta Falcons last night, 30-28 on a Nick Folk game winning field goal. Geno Smith has 3 fourth quarter comebacks this year in only 5 career starts Geno Smith led the Jets down the field with 1:47 left to steal a win in Atlanta. Smith now has three fourth quarter comeback wins in only five career starts. Geno Smith was sensational Monday night throwing for 199 yards and 3 touchdowns. Smith was 16 of 20 completing 80 percent of his passes. More importantly Smith tallied ZERO turnovers for the first time this season. Ryan stressed protecting the ball all week and Smith after receiving tons of criticism this week, stepped up and in a big way. Rex Ryan was ecstatic in his post game press conference. He continually said the Jets played “fearless” and that he was “happy they won this way.” The Jets win took a complete performance from the team. Bilal Powell, Chris Ivory, Mike Goodson and Geno Smith all combined for over a 100 yards rushing. Eight different players caught a pass Monday night, showing that the Jets are much deeper then people give them credit for. The defense came up with a big goal-line stand right before halftime that gave the Jets a ton of momentum heading into the second half. Muhammad Wilkerson had a huge strip sack that resulted in points for the Jets and gave them a six point lead. The Jets were very impressive last night and the play from their rookie quarterback has the team believing they can make the playoffs. The Jets defense wasn’t great, but was good enough against the Atlanta offense to give the Jets a chance to win the game late. If the Jets can eliminate turnovers, they have shown numerous times this year that they can play with any team in the league. Geno Smith showed maturity and poise in the Goergia Dome, Monday night. Playing in a hostile environment, Smith didn’t let the crowd or the pressure effect him. Atlanta scored to take the lead with about two minutes left putting the game in Smith’s hands to win. Smith didn’t even blink. On the game winning drive he was 3 of 3 , hitting three different receivers and had a huge run that set up Nick Folk for the game winner. The Jets will take on the (0-4) Pittsburgh Steelers next week. A win will put the Jets at 4-2 when the division leading New England Patriots pay a visit to the Meadowlands.
