Originally written June 18, 2013 on Pro Football Zone:
According to Mike Garafolo of USA Today Sports, Roc Nation Sports agent Kim Miale has been barred from negotiating Geno Smith’s rookie contract as the NFLPA investigates whether Roc Nation violated the “runner rule.” Also in that entry: Kim Miale has not been barred from negotiating Geno Smith's contract for now, which jibes w/ what Idzik said. — Mike Garafolo (@MikeGarafolo) June 18, 2013 Miale is scheduled to meet with the NFLPA on Wednesday. Kim Miale, the agent who represents New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith on behalf of Jay-Z’s Roc Nation, will meet with members of the NFL Players Association on Wednesday to discuss her recruiting of Smith and whether she violated the NFLPA’s “runner rule” in doing so, a person informed of the meeting told USA TODAY Sports. The “runner rule” is described below. The NFLPA’s “runner rule” states that only certified agents can recruit players. Jay-Z, who was pictured in an Instagram photo sitting alongside Smith before the second-round pick signed with Roc Nation, is not certified and has not applied for certification. Miale, who has not responded to repeated requests for comment from USA TODAY Sports over the past few months, represents only two other clients registered with the NFLPA. Both of those players (kicker Carlos Martinez, now with the Philadelphia Soul of the Arena Football League, and former University of Florida linebacker Brandon Hicks) are inactive. Need NFL Tickets?
