The Panthers are turning to a familiar figure to help fill their offensive line void after injuries to guards Chris Scott and Jeff Byers during Sunday’s win against Atlanta. Veteran guard/center Geoff Hangartner is scheduled to fly to Charlotte on Tuesday to take a physical with the Panthers, a source close to him said Monday. If Hangartner passes the physical, he’ll sign with the team. It would be Hangartner’s third stint with Carolina, which cut him during the first week of training camp. Hangartner, who has been living in Texas, started 12 games last season – four at guard and eight at center. He was with the Panthers in 2005-08 before playing at Buffalo for two seasons. After the Bills cut him, Hangartner returned to Charlotte and started every game during 2011. The Panthers have been hard hit by injuries at guard.

Playoffs? Ron Rivera says Carolina ‘has an opportunity’

Most NFL coaches would rather discuss politics or religion than the playoffs – at least at midseason. But Ron Rivera waded into the topic Monday when he was asked whether his third Panthers team was beginning to take on the look of...

When ever you see the Carolina Panthers insert fullback Mike Tolbert into the game it is time to pay attention--especially if it is near the goal line where he has made a living punching the ball over and doing a little dance. Carolina Panthers: Dominating Second Half Performance Propels Panthers

Driving late in the first half, Cam threw an interception that kept a pesky Atlanta team down only four going into half.
