Jeff Dickerson's Blog:
LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- We had our first glimpse of Nathan Vasher lining up at free safety in the nickel package in Cincinnati. Judging by comments made by Lovie Smith earlier in the week, Vasher may again be called upon to play some center field Sunday against Cleveland. "It's different, I wouldn't say easier," Vasher said. "I think physically it's a little less demanding. [It's new seeing] the way routes unfold, the way the quarterback is able to manipulate the safeties, because that's where the majority of big plays are coming from. It's definitely different, and it's going to take a lot of reps. I'm kind of just learning on the fly a little bit." Vasher loathes being labeled strictly as a cornerback, and was quick to remind people he played strong safety at Texas his sophomore year. "I think it plays to a lot of my strengths. We'll just see how it goes, but I'm definitely excited."
