There has been plenty of speculation about what the New York Giants plan to do at the tight end position after choosing to forgo adding a viable option through the 2014 NFL Draft. It appears third-year tight end Adrien Robinson believes the G-Men already have their man on the roster. “It’s my third year, my weight’s down, we’ve got a new OC [Ben McAdoo], new tight ends coach,” Robinson said when OTAs got underway two weeks ago. “Everything is fresh. It’s like a clean slate. I’m just ready to go.” Since being taken in the fourth round of the 2011 draft out of Cincinnati, Robinson has yet to contribute much. The former Bearcat has yet to prove he’s the “JPP of tight ends” as general manager Jerry Reese once dubbed him to be, but perhaps 2014 will be the year he finally breaks out. There is no established starter on the depth chart in front of him, and he’s had just as long to learn new offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo’s playbook as his competition. With injuries behind him, the Giants are hopeful this is the year Robinson can take the reins. “I think he’s done a really good job in terms of just learning,” head coach Tom Coughlin told reporters of Robinson (via Giants.com). “Again, not many mental errors. I’ve been really impressed with that. To date, Robinson has appeared in just three games and has recorded more tackles (1) than receptions. If all goes right, the 24-year-old tight end could get the opportunity to change all that this season. View poll on FanMob Like what you see?
