NFL Injury Report:
New York Giants safety Antrell Rolle was carted off the field during Monday's practice when he and Bear Pascoe got their feet tangled up on a high pass from David Carr, NFL.com's Dan Hanzus reports. The MRI Rolle underwent after practice revealed an ankle sprain.
At this point, there's no timeframe for Rolle's return to the Giants, but the safety did say that he's going to do "whatever it takes" to get back on the field for the team's regular-season opener.
“Oh no. No,’’ Rolle said. “I am going to do whatever it
takes to make sure that is not even a possibility. Treatment two times, three
times, four times a day, whatever it takes, I am going to do it.’’
While Rolle didn't express any hesitation that he would be available for the team's opener on Sept. 8 against division rival Dallas, it's not considered a sure-thing based on his injury history and the fact that there has yet to be a projected return date set.
Rolle did acknowledge that he could miss the next two or three weeks as a result of the injury, but that would still allow him enough time to get ready for the team's opener, which is 27 days away. You can't blame Rolle for his optimism, but only time will tell if it holds true.
