According to Ebenezer Samuel of the New York Daily News, the New York Giants have re-signed veteran linebacker Chase Blackburn to a one-year deal.
This past season, Blackburn wasn’t signed by the Giants until midway through the season and played in his first game of the season against the Green Bay Packers. He made an immediate impact right away by intercepting an Aaron Rodgers pass and helping the Giants get within a score of defeating the Packers, who were unbeaten at the time.
Blackburn also made a crucial interception during Super Bowl XLVI against the Patriots when Tom Brady launched a deep pass intended for Rob Gronkowski, but Blackburn jumped up and made a great play.
I don’t believe Blackburn will automatically make the 2012 Giants roster, but he’ll certainly have a shot after a strong 2011 season and because of his knowledge of the defense.
