The NFC title game was the low point for the New York Giants' offensive line last season. While Tom Coughlin's team won the contest and went on to win the Super Bowl, most of the linemen recall it was the game they let quarterback Eli Manning down, literally. Manning was sacked six times and hit six other times in the 20-17 overtime victory. Walking off the field, the leader of the Giants' offense was sore. His uniform was covered with grass stains, mud and anything else that was on the field. Protecting Manning will be the No. 1 priority for the Giants (3-2) Sunday when they return to San Francisco for the third time in less than a year to face the 49ers (4-1).

New York Giants Monday morning hangover: plenty to nitpick after 41-27 victory over Browns

Yes, the New York Giants beat Trent Richardson and the Cleveland Browns in what turned out to be sort of a blowout yesterday, a 41-27 victory that featured great games from Ahmad Bradshaw, Eli Manning, Victor Cruz and Reuben Randle. And sure, it elevates the team into a tie with the Philadelphia Eagles for the NFC East division lead. But let's be honest, the Giants have beaten...

Eagles better on defense, but can't sack the QB

Eli Manning didn't get dirty and Ben Roethlisberger never went down against the Eagles the past two weeks. Playing quarterback seems like a safe job for Philadelphia's opponents. Those ferocious pass rushers aren't producing sacks the way they're used to, but the Eagles (3-2) are getting results on the scoreboard anyway. ''The bottom line for our defense...

Tom Coughlin troubled by Giants’ defense: “We’re battling through it just like everyone else”

Tom Coughlin is an old school guy, but he knows that you have to adjust constantly. He’s famous for his rigid regimes and eye for detail. Nobody has been better than the Giants in rushing the passer; in fact it’s the Giants defense calling card. Coughlin’s 3-2 Giants squad seems to have a habit of coming out the gate slow, but burn up the post season. However, Coughlin still...

New York Giants Provide Early Drama But Win 41-27 Over the Browns

TweetThe New York Giants give their fans an early scare against the Cleveland Browns. They were down 17-7 in the first quarter, I'm sure it had some fans wondering if the team was going to make this a close one.No disrespect to the Browns but I personally wasn't nervous, just upset that New York found themselves down against what many consider to be the worst team in the...

Giants' Cruz hopes to play Sunday

New York wide receiver Hakeem Nicks told reporters that he hopes to play Sunday against the 49ers, while head coach Tom Coughlin said no decision had been made on whether Nicks will travel to San Francisco. "I did the majority of the practice -- about four or five reps a period - about what I would normally do on a Friday practice," Nicks said. "I did good. I had...

Run game will be key in rematch of NFC title game

The numbers posted by the San Francisco 49ers, who happen to be the New York Giants' next opponent, are certainly daunting on a first glance. The 49ers (4-1) have outscored opponents 149-68 this season, including a combined 79-3 thrashing against their last two opponents, the New York Jets and Buffalo Bills, against whom they rushed for 556 of their 979 yards. Defensively...
