Giants coach Tom Coughlin wasn't exactly gloating. Well, maybe he was. Asked at the NFC coaches breakfast about all the attention the New York Jets have been getting with their trade for Tim Tebow and contract extension for Mark Sanchez -- in other words, their budding quarterback controversy -- Coughlin simply smiled and said: ''You know who won the Super Bowl even if we're not on front page. New Yorkers know.'' Coughlin also says he doesn't believe in rotating quarterbacks. ''I don't have a lot of experience with that,'' Coughlin said, again smiling at the thought he has Eli Manning, a two-time Super Bowl winner. ''Once you start to develop your guy, you like him to have the ball in his hand.'' Coughlin seemed aghast when asked if he would take the ball out of his starting QB's hands for, say, 20 snaps a game. ''With our guy?'' he said. ''I don't do hypotheticals.'' Not so theoretical is the coach getting a contract extension. Giants owner John Mara said the team expects to work out an extension for the 65-year-old Coughlin very soon, probably within a month or so. It likely will be the final contract for Coughlin, who last year received an extension through 2012. ''There's talk,'' Coughlin said, ''and quite frankly, it will get done.'' He indicated it will be for several years. Coughlin also said he wouldn't discount Bill Parcells, his former boss and longtime confidant, considering the interim coach's role with the New Orleans Saints. The Saints spoke with Parcells about the job on Tuesday; coach Sean Payton is suspended for the 2012 season for his part in the team's bounty system that targeted opponents for hits that could injure them. ''I had one conversation (after the Super Bowl) with Bill and it was as if he had the league and all the key situations in your games and the other games on the tip of his tongue,'' Coughlin said. ''He knew the ins and out of our season. It seemed like he knew the ins and outs of every teams' seasons.''

Giants close to locking up Tom Coughlin with an extension

According to Bart Hubbuch of the New York Post, New York Giants owner John Mara indicated that they’re working on getting a contract extension completed for head coach Tom Coughlin.  It should be completed within the next four to six weeks. After winning his second Super Bowl in four years, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Giants end up giving Coughlin a three to four year extension...

Jets can have headlines, Giants have trophy

Giants coach Tom Coughlin wasn't exactly gloating. Well, maybe he was. Asked at the NFC coaches breakfast about all the attention the New York Jets have been getting with their trade for Tim Tebow and contract extension for Mark Sanchez - in other words, their budding quarterback controversy - Coughlin simply smiled and said: ''You know who won the Super Bowl even if...

Tom Coughlin burns the Jets

Winning a Super Bowl can allow a NFL head coach a little bit of candor in his public statements.  Winning two super bowls allows a coach a ton. New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin took full advantage of that yesterday when he couldn’t resist taking a jab at the “cross-town” rival New York Jets and their recent player acquisitions (ie: Tebowmania in NYC). Here’s what...

Check out the Giants new Super Bowl Ring (Photo)

Via back-up linebacker Clint Sintim, comes this image of the Giants Super Bowl XLVI Ring, featuring all 4 Lombardi Trophies the franchise has won: Not too shabby. Apparently Sintim jumped the gun with his Twitter post, and an official statement from the team is expected later today.

RB Brandon Jacobs Finds New Home

Brandon Jacobs finds new home with San Francisco 49ers. Jacobs signed a one-year deal with the NFC West champions. No. 27 was reportedly due a $500,000 roster bonus in March along with a $4.4 million base salary for 2012. Jacobs was released March 9 by the New York Giants after negations to reach an agreement on his restructured deal failed. Jacobs will play a backup...

Giants-Cowboys will kickoff the 2012 season

According to the NFL Vice President of football communications Michael Signora, the New York Giants will host the Dallas Cowboys to kickoff the 2012 season on Wednesday September 5th. This game will be a rematch of the Giants-Cowboys NFC East Championship game from the 2011 season that the Giants ended up winning.  Of course after winning that game they won the division, clinched...

49ers sign Brandon Jacobs

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the San Francisco 49ers have signed former New York Giants  running back Brandon Jacobs. Jacobs is the second former Giants player the 49ers have signed this offseason.  They also signed wide receiver Mario Manningham about a week ago. I’d be surprised if both Kendall Hunter and Anthony Dixon don’t end up ahead of Jacobs on the depth chart...

Bears add to receiving corps with signing of Thomas

Looking to provide Quarterback Jay Cutler with another target, the Chicago Bears inked former New York Giants wide receiver Devin Thomas to a one-year deal. To be fair, Thomas is merely a complimentary piece, as he contributed mostly on special teams this past season in the Giants Super Bowl run.  In fact, the 6-2, 221-pound Thomas came up big in the post-season  [...]

Giants to open season vs. Cowboys

The New York Giants will host the Dallas Cowboys at MetLife Stadium on September 5 at 8:30 p.m. ET for the season's opening game.

NFL coaches speak on bounties

Most NFL coaches are not shying away from addressing the presence of a bounty system on the New Orleans Saints. Many say they will discuss with their players the significance of the punishments the league handed down, including suspending Saints coach Sean Payton for the 2012 season. Detroit Lions coach Jim Schwartz stresses how easy it is to cross the line from handing out game...

Giants Co-Owner John Mara Jabs Tim Tebow Press Conference

Asked John Mara if NY was big enough for the Giants and Tim Tebow: "I don't know, but the David Carr press conference will be tomw, too."— Bob Glauber (@BobGlauber) March 25, 2012 Besides Tim Tebow using the word “excited” at a record-setting rate, the best part of his press conference actually stems from comments by Giants co-owner John Mara. When asked...
