“That guy is flat-out unbelievable,” Osi Umenyiora said after the New York Giants’ win over the Washington Redskins. “I’m not even going to lie. That’s the best quarterback we’ve played this year.”
Had those comments from Umenyiora been about Eli Manning I would have believed them. Instead he is the latest in a group of people who have dumped praise on the Robert Griffin III. Griffin is a super talented player and may in fact turn the Redskins from doormat in the NFC East to kingpin but lets keep it all in context.
The Giants defeated the Redskins on Sunday even though Griffin completed 20-of-28 passes for 258 yards and two touchdowns and added another 89 yards on the ground.
“He’s faster in person than he is on tape. He’s very, very fast. He’s a very talented young man. He’s going to have a lot of success in this league,” said Canty.
Even Giants head coach Tom Coughlin was singing the praises of Griffin following Sunday’s game.
“He looks like the fastest guy on tape and he’s certainly the fastest guy on the field,” he said. “When he pulls the ball down, when you break down contain and he goes outside, you are just praying someone is going to run him out of bounds.”
Griffin had a nice stat line against the Giants if you look at his yards and touchdowns. What the Giants defense is forgetting is the mistakes and turnovers they forced Griffin to make at crucial points in the game.
Griffin’s picked off pass by Giants safety Stevie Brown late in the third quarter doomed the Redskins as it set up a 1-yard touchdown run by Ahmad Bradshaw. On Griffin’s next possession he turned the ball over on the ground, fortunately for the Redskins they would intercept Manning and score a field goal.
I understand the Giants think Griffin played well against them and to some degree they are right. However lets not forget it was his mistakes that allowed the Giants to win the game.

Captain Comeback Scott Kacsmar has another record for Eli Manning, a bad record for Cam Newton, the good/bad/ugly Patriots, and Bengals bomb at home versus Pittsburgh again.
While it hurts to fathom, especially from the eyes of a New England native, Eli Manning is undoubtedly the best clutch quarterback going right now in the NFL.
Yes, Tom Brady led the Patriots to a comeback victory on Sunday over the hated Jets, but it marked the first time he had done so since the AFC title game last year against Baltimore. Most importantly, in...
Six weeks into the season, Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan has been more or less ordained as the MVP front-runner.Some big showings by big names last week, however, got the debate flowing again.Specifically, Peyton Manning’s performance in the Bronco’s 24-point comeback win at San Diego (the Chargers, of course, being the reason that the dictionary has a thunderbolt next to the...
Robert Griffin III came to the New York-metropolitan area and put on a show. He ran. He threw. He dodged New York Giants' defenders with breakaway speed and left many shaking their heads and bemoaning another meeting down the road.
The rookie sensation left something else on the field. A couple of costly turnovers and way too much time for Eli Manning to pull off another fourth...
TweetWashing Redskins QB Robert Griffing III (RG3) played a good game versus the New York Giants but took a beating along the way week 7.
Despite RG3 putting the Redskins in a position to win they lose 27-23. Eli Manning took the spotlight once again in the 4th quarter and proved why he is the most clutch QB in the NFL.

After a busy week of football we are now basically at the midpoint of the season. Some teams have disappointed and some teams have impressed. Players have broken out and got off to quick starts while others have slightly regressed and perhaps aren’t the players who we thought they were. Looking back at Week 7 here are your NFL Rock Stars.

That big Philip Rivers-for-Eli Manning trade the San Diego Chargers pulled off on draft day 2004 is now essentially a one-for-one deal.

He'll collect $1.1 million in termination pay.
The two other players...
