The New York Giants signed former Dallas Cowboys tight end Martellus Bennett to a one-year deal. The pact is worth $2.5 million, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Wednesday. "I think at times you got glimpses, but I was in a limited role," Bennett said of his spending his career as a backup to Jason Witten. "I only played like 30 percent of the snaps while I was in Dallas. I think, in a larger role, I can do so much more. I think the sky is the limit. I don't think anyone has really seen who I am as a player and what I have to offer." With starter Jake Ballard and backup Travis Beckum suffering torn ACLs in the Super Bowl, Bennett will have a shot to prove his worth. Bennett had 17 receptions for 144 yards last season.
