You can't learn much from one game, especially the first game of the season, but it appears the demise of Giants' defensive line has been greatly over exaggerated. They only managed one sacked, but played on the Redskins' side of the line-of-scrimmage most of the game and held Clinton Portis in check. As for Eli Manning and the offense, they played well but left some points on the board. Brandon Jacobs rushed for over 115 yards. Giants look much better now than they did last year at this time. Meanwhile, the Washington Redskins' defense only squandered 16 points against the defending champs on the road. That's not bad, but their offense was awful. The Redskins' offensive seemed unorganized and ill-prepared. Chris Cooley had only one catch. Clinton Portis got his touches but only averaged 3.5 yards a carry. They were 3 for 13 on 3rd downs and squeaked out 209 total yards. Jim Zorn's debut as Redskins head coach did not go well. His team appeared out class and out coached. It's a long season and the Redskins have plenty of time to turn it around. Which is a good thing because they're going to need it.
