The New York Giants won't go down without a fight despite throwing away control of their playoff destiny with lopsided losses the past two weeks.
Coach Tom Coughlin was perplexed Monday when asked about the embarrassing losses to Atlanta and Baltimore that have left the defending Super Bowl champions needing a ton of help to get back to the postseason.
New York (8-7) has to beat Philadelphia, have Minnesota and Chicago (both 9-6) lose and have Dallas (8-7) tie or lose to Washington.
Coughlin admitted that was a long shot. Barring that, he just wants the Giants to play well after another second-half collapse that has them on the verge of missing the playoffs for the third time in four years.

Giants out of NFC East race, but still can make playoffs with help
Are you asking yourself what happened to Eli Manning and the New York Giants over the last two weeks? Another embarrassing loss for the Giants have now taken them out of the running for the NFC East as the winner of the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Redskins will determine the winner next Sunday. While the Giants may be out of the NFC East race they still have a chance at making...
SAME OLD SHENANIGANS
Wilson not done with backflips
Despite being advised by Justin Tuck to stop celebrating with backflips, David Wilson went with his usual antics against the Ravens.
The Giants are almost eliminated from the playoffs. Week 17 Power Rankings.
Are the Giants are trying to miss the playoffs?
Here are my Power Rankings and a quick note about each team.
1) San Francisco - Don't panic, Seattle doesn't lose at home.
2) Texans - They are solid on both sides of the ball.
3) Patriots - Suspect defense keep them from the top spot.
4) Denver - On the rise, are they a Super Bowl sleeper?
5) Falcons - They need...
Pierre-Paul on Giants’ loss: ‘We pissed on our legs’
Another week, another blowout loss for the suddenly sinking G-Men, who've went from first to finished in the span of two games.
The postseason is now a pipe-dream for New York, and a furious Jason Pierre-Paul believes his team doesn't belong in the tournament.
“Do we deserve it by the way we played? Do we?” Pierre-Paul said, via the Daily News. “I don’t think so...
Giants know playoff chances now 'remote'
What a difference a year has made for the New York Giants. Much like this time last year, the Giants entered the final week of the season looking to secure a postseason berth, which they did with a win over the Cowboys at home. This year, the Giants have a similar chance to get into the postseason, albeit as a wild card, if they win their season finale against the Eagles and...

By Anthony Caruso III
The Capital Sports Report
Owner/Managing Editor/Sr. Writer
New York Giants defensive end Justin Tuck could be playing his final game with the team this weekend. Justin Tuck
Tuck could be released by the team this off-season. He has a meager three sacks this season after having just five sacks last season.
He is due to make $4.5 million next year in the final...
Umenyiora: 'Very real possibility' he, Giants will part
With the Giants on the brink of seeing their playoff hopes completely vanish -– New York is still mathematically alive but will need a lot of help to get in -- defensive end Osi Umenyiora said he's reflected a bit over his career with the NFL team that drafted him, and has come to accept that there is a "very real possibility" that this is his final season as a Giant...
Giants to let Tuck walk?
After this years disappointing performance the New York Giants are going to need to make some wholesale changes, especially on the defensive side of the ball. Many complain about the secondary but one of the main problems is that their defensive line has gotten old and bad, very fast and that’s the strength of the defense. Gregg Rosenthal of NFL.com suggests that the team could...
Tom Coughlin on his team: "A group of outstanding character people"
Tom Coughlin knows this is how it goes, one year you’re the champ, the next you’re the chump. You can’t win them all, but you can win one for pride. The proud Giants need help to get into the playoffs, a little too much help to realistically sit on a wing of hope. However, Coughlin doesn’t quit and he won’ let his team go under either. “That’s what I talked to our...
#TheLaMorteReport NYG Short Memories @JLaMorte21
The New York Football Giants look like they once again forgot that nothing is handed to you, especially in the NFL! This time it looks to be too late, needing a win against Philly, a Cowboy loss to Wash, Green Bay to beat Minnesota, and the Bears to fall to a Lions team that cannot get out of it’s own way, just to make the playoffs. It was just last season where they were...
Jason Pierre-Paul Unhappy With Giants' Recent Play
The New York Giants entered Week 15 atop the NFC East, seemingly in position to go on one of their patented late-season runs. Instead, they lost by a combined score of 67-14 to the Atlanta Falcons and Baltimore Ravens.
The Giants still could make the playoffs with a win Sunday and a whole lot of help, but their season is all but over after an embarrassing performance against the...
Meet the 2012 Championship Round Lumps of Coal
The finals have come and gone in most leagues. Hopefully many of you are celebrating championships. Inevitably, most aren’t. After looking at what happened in Week 16, we’ve put together the Fantasy Football Lumps of Coal Team.
This team could very well have been a legitimate starting team in the championships…and completely fell on its face. Without further delay, let’s...
Eli is overwhelmed and understated after Ravens loss
Eli Manning might want to change his nickname from "Easy" to "Woozy" after the consecutive beatdowns the New York Giants quarterback has gone through over the past two weeks.
Last Sunday's 34-0 blowout by the Atlanta Falcons was compounded by yesterday's ugly 33-14 loss to the Baltimore Ravens which left the Giants signal caller looking for more than...
Week 16 Observations
The Giants played as badly as they did in Atlanta a week ago, to the point where I wondered why they bothered to make the trip. A forfeit would have been more dignified and honest.
It's hard to fathom how Eli Manning became one of the worst quarterbacks in the league over the last 11 weeks and an absolute killer in fantasy (h/t Scott Pianowski). And the defense is even...
