Sam Borden of the New York Times reports Payton would face dire consequences if caught violating the terms of his one-year suspension from the NFL, starting with the possibility that he would not be allowed to return to the league when the suspension ended. That potential for long-term unemployment may be reason enough for most to believe that Payton is, in fact, staying away — and not, say, scratching out plays in powdered sugar during covert meetings disguised as beignet feasts, still, there are doubters. The Saints visit the Giants on Sunday, and in interviews this week, several Giants players questioned just how silent Payton has been this season, punter Steve Weatherford expressed a common sentiment when he said, “Of course he will get his message to them somehow.” Weatherford added: “I’m not saying anything about Sean Payton as a person or anything, but I think any coach would do that. It’s not like he’s just going to sit at home and watch the games and not have any thoughts. His message will be heard.” Joe Vitt, the Saints’ interim coach, said it had been exceedingly difficult for him not to speak with Payton this season. The Saints have struggled with inconsistency and enter Sunday’s game at 5-7, a record that puts them on the very outskirts of playoff contention. For Vitt, who has worked as the assistant head coach and linebackers coach under Payton and served a six-week suspension himself before taking over the team, Payton’s absence has been conspicuous. “It’s like a giant hole in my chest,” Vitt said. “I think we both kind of look at the calendar and see that there’s four weeks left in the regular season, and he’s due to come back here at the conclusion of the playoffs. But it’s been extremely difficult.” Source: The Redzone Attached Thumbnails

Its speculation, or is it? New York Giants punter Steve Weatherford believes that suspended coach Sean Payton has been sending messages to his former players. Sean Payton Sweepstakes: Four Most Likely 2013 Destinations

As we all know, the New Orleans Saints' staff was tremendously effected by the "bountygate" program they had been running for the past few years. Sean Payton was probably effected the most, as he currently isn't recognized as the Saints' coach, serving a one-year ban from coaching the team. With all that happening to New Orleans in the past offseason, will Sean...

Eli Manning says the Giants have to score more touchdowns

Eli Manning is taking the ‘we’re not far” route instead of thinking things on the offense need to be changed. Manning feels the Giants need to convert in the red zone and not leave points on the field. Manning came up short in his battle against RG3 and that probably doesn’t sit well with him. While he has won 2 Super Bowls, RG3 in three quarters of the season has the entire...

After the New York Giants 17-16 defeat to the Washington Redskins Giants safety Antrel Rolle told WFAN that he and his teammates need to get "nasty" and show the "dog" inside them. Once again, the New York Giants are in the same place as always as they are at this point of the regualr season. They are one game up on the Redskins and Cowboys in the NFC East division and they have to beat the Saints in order to stay where they are. And beating Drew Brees is never an easy thing to do. The history of the Giants facing Drew Brees hasn't been ever that good...

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell Open To Eliminating Kickoffs

Gameday Prelude: A Tale of Two Quarterbacks

During my short tenure as the Giants writer here at DoubleGSports.com, I have harped on historical reoccurrences during the Tom Coughlin/Eli Manning era. Well guess what ladies and gents; I’m repeating my trend because the Giants have one coming up this weekend. You are probably asking yourself; “what in the world did this pessimistic writer come up with this time?” What I...
