Sam Borden of the New York Times reports Payton would face dire consequences if caught violating the terms of his one-year suspension from the NFL, starting with the possibility that he would not be allowed to return to the league when the suspension ended. That potential for long-term unemployment may be reason enough for most to believe that Payton is, in fact, staying away and not, say, scratching out plays in powdered sugar during covert meetings disguised as beignet feasts, still, there are doubters.
The Saints visit the Giants on Sunday, and in interviews this week, several Giants players questioned just how silent Payton has been this season, punter Steve Weatherford expressed a common sentiment when he said, Of course he will get his message to them somehow.
Weatherford added: Im not saying anything about Sean Payton as a person or anything, but I think any coach would do that. Its not like hes just going to sit at home and watch the games and not have any thoughts. His message will be heard.
Joe Vitt, the Saints interim coach, said it had been exceedingly difficult for him not to speak with Payton this season. The Saints have struggled with inconsistency and enter Sundays game at 5-7, a record that puts them on the very outskirts of playoff contention.
For Vitt, who has worked as the assistant head coach and linebackers coach under Payton and served a six-week suspension himself before taking over the team, Paytons absence has been conspicuous. Its like a giant hole in my chest, Vitt said. I think we both kind of look at the calendar and see that theres four weeks left in the regular season, and hes due to come back here at the conclusion of the playoffs. But its been extremely difficult. Source: The Redzone Attached Thumbnails

With the team set to face the Saints on Sunday, several Giants players said they find it hard to believe that Sean Payton has had no contact with the team.
Its speculation, or is it? New York Giants punter Steve Weatherford believes that suspended coach Sean Payton has been sending messages to his former players. Payton was suspended for a year by the NFL after the league found evidence of a bounty system in New Orleans. The coach would face severe punishment if he were caught communicating with any Saint players. The New York Times...
JUSTICE SHALL PREVAIL
A report says the New Orleans Saints would consider suing the league if Sean Payton ended up leaving them to coach elsewhere.
As we all know, the New Orleans Saints' staff was tremendously effected by the "bountygate" program they had been running for the past few years. Sean Payton was probably effected the most, as he currently isn't recognized as the Saints' coach, serving a one-year ban from coaching the team. With all that happening to New Orleans in the past offseason, will Sean...
Eli Manning is taking the ‘we’re not far” route instead of thinking things on the offense need to be changed. Manning feels the Giants need to convert in the red zone and not leave points on the field.
Manning came up short in his battle against RG3 and that probably doesn’t sit well with him. While he has won 2 Super Bowls, RG3 in three quarters of the season has the entire...
After the New York Giants 17-16 defeat to the Washington Redskins Giants safety Antrel Rolle told WFAN that he and his teammates need to get "nasty" and show the "dog" inside them.
Defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul agrees with Rolle.
“I'm behind Rolle 100 percent,” Pierre-Paul said via CBSSports.com. “We've been playing like we haven't. I think...

Once again, the New York Giants are in the same place as always as they are at this point of the regualr season.
They are one game up on the Redskins and Cowboys in the NFC East division and they have to beat the Saints in order to stay where they are.
And beating Drew Brees is never an easy thing to do. The history of the Giants facing Drew Brees hasn't been ever that good...
The Saints will travel to New York to face the Giants on Sunday it what will pin the defending world champions against the 2009 champs. This was supposed to be an amazing late season matchup on paper when the season started, but instead the Saints are 5-7 and the Giants are 7-5, both clinging to playoff hopes. The Saints will likely have to win out, while the Giants can't really...
If you want to play in January and February in the NFL, you have to win football games in December. The NFL season doesn’t begin in earnest until the turkey has been scarfed down on Thanksgiving, and with the first week of December just about in the rearview, it’s go time for teams on the bubble.
As is the case this time of the year, the Week 14 slate has a plethora of divisional...
New Giants owner John Mara said last April the NFL has been considering eliminating kickoffs in the future and he might not be too far off.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell in an article in TIME magazine he discussed with Rich McKay, chair of the NFL competition committee a rule proposed by Bucs coach Greg Schiano that instead of kicking off after a team scores a touchdown or field...
During my short tenure as the Giants writer here at DoubleGSports.com, I have harped on historical reoccurrences during the Tom Coughlin/Eli Manning era. Well guess what ladies and gents; I’m repeating my trend because the Giants have one coming up this weekend.
You are probably asking yourself; “what in the world did this pessimistic writer come up with this time?”
I love the big stage T…
