Free-agent guard Darnell Stapleton, who started for the Pittsburgh Steelers Super Bowl championship team two years ago, visited the Giants earlier this week, according to a report on Scout.com. The 24-year-old lineman spent all of last season on injured reserve after undergoing surgery on his right knee in August. The 6-3, 305-pound Stapleton was originally an undrafted free agent out of Rutgers in 2007. The Union, N.J. native was the Steelers’ backup center in 2008 until starting guard Kendall Simmons landed on injured reserve. Stapleton stepped in and started 12 regular season games, plus all the games during the Steelers’ playoff run. The Giants definitely have an interest in adding depth - - and youth - - to the interior of their offensive line. Center Shaun O’Hara is coming off a Pro Bowl season, but he turns 33 in June.
