The Giants made some interesting roster moves as they prepare for their primetime showdown in Dallas on Sunday night.
The Giants claimed running back Gartell Johnson off of waivers from the San Diego Chargers, likely as a temporary replacement while Danny Ware recovers from a dislocated elbow. The powerful Johnson (5'11 218lbs) racked up 176 yards on 43 carries during the preseason. I thought the Giants would promote Allen Patrick from the practice squad, because he looked good in preseason, but he was actually released today. The Giants must have been impressed with Johnson, and I always trust Jerry Reese's instincts when it comes to running backs. Gartell won an audition which included notable free agent running backs T.J. Duckett and Lorenzo Booker.
The Giants also officially activated linebacker Michael Boley, who was suspended for the opener. Expect to see him on the field in Dallas on Sunday night.
