Tom Coughlin had concerns about the New York Giants' running game on both sides heading into the season.
Nothing has changed after the first preseason game.
The running game averaged a dismal 2.54 yards on 33 attempts in the 18-13 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Saturday night. The first-team defense was shaky in its brief stint against one of the NFL's hard-nosed rushing attacks.
However, the offensive line played without starting right guard Chris Snee and his backup James Brewer. The defensive line was minus defensive ends Justin Tuck (back) and Jason Pierre-Paul (PUP).
Coughlin was satisfied with a long touchdown pass from Eli Manning to Victor Cruz and good special teams play.

New York Giants second-year wide receiver Rueben Randle has been so impressive during camp that offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride can’t help but rave about him.
Gilbride told reporters on Monday that Randle is “light years from where he was last year. Not that there wasn’t some physical ability that I think was easily discerned by everybody, but the consistency of performance...

It was not the type of off-season that New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz expected to have. Heck, it was not the type that anyone wanted to see with the contract talks dragging on throughout the majority of the summer.
However, when it all came down to it and it was time to play some football the man was more than ready to do it. After hauling in a pass from Eli Manning...
Giants safety Antrel Rolle was carted off the practice field Monday after suffering a right foot injury according to several reporters on the scene.
For now there are no details on the severity of the injury.
Rolle originally drafted by the Cardinals as a cornerback came to the Giants in 2010 where he's been a starting safety the last three seasons. He's never missed a...
Now, don't get me wrong - this is straight up a commercial for DirecTV. Commercials suck. Except when they're entertaining. A well done commercial can be more fun to watch than the show you turned your tv on for. And when it comes to athletes, I love me the ones who don't take themselves seriously, the ones who can make fun of themselves and goof around. Back in December...
Looking back at the Pittsburgh Steelers first preseason game against the New York Giants, below are six things that really surprised me. I really didn’t think that Justin Cheadle would see any snaps in this game at center, but he played quite a few there. Cheadle has worked at center a little over the course [...]

I am generally not one to put too much stock into preseason games, especially after just the first one when the starters only play for a few series. Although this game was not exactly a thing of beaty, we did get some insight into the Giants and Steelers, two teams looking to get back to the postseason in 2013. 1. By David Todd The Steelers opened their 2013 preseason campaign with an 18-13 loss to the New York Giants at Heinz Field Saturday night in a game that was sloppy and lacking in entertainment almost from the start. From an evaluative standpoint the performance of individual Steelers players largely matched up with what we have [...]
