The New York Giants are ready to sign former Washigton Redskins running back Ryan Torain according to Jenny Vrentas of the Newark Star-Ledger.
The loss of Andre Brown left a hole at running back with talented but unproven rookie David Wilson as the second back. Wilson’s history of fumbling problems doesn’t give Tom Coughlin much confidence if the kid can't handle the load, Torrain will get a chance to jump start his career.
Torain hasn’t played a game since last December but is a solid back when healthy. However, Torain hasn’t managed to accomplish that feat through out his career.
The hard running Torain could grab an instant role as his straight line power running is a good fit in the Giants offense. In 2011, he had 200 yards and 1 touchdown before suffering an ACL injury to his knee.
However, in 2010, Torrain gained 742 with 4 touchdowns and the Giants are hoping they are getting that version.
