EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ - NOVEMBER 22: Eli Manning #10 of the the New York Giants looks to pass against the Atlanta Falcons on November 22, 2009 at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. (Photo by Chris McGrath/Getty Images)
There are more than a few similarities between this year’s New York Giants team and the one that clinched the Super Bowl last season, but that will not stop the fans worrying, after a shock defeat to the Cincinnati Bengals in week 10. The defeat was the Giants’ second in a row, sending the team into their bye-week knowing their hopes of reaching the play-offs rest on the team getting back to winning ways as soon as possible. As fans betting NFL will know, it took a late surge last season for the Giants to reach the play-offs and it could be a similar situation for the team this year. If that is going to be the case though, then it is going to need a serious improvement from an offensive unit that should really be producing more than it has been in recent weeks. The 31-year old Andy Dalton overshadowed the two-time Super Bowl winner, Eli Manning, whose struggles continued. The Bengals quarterback threw a career-high four touchdown passes to help Cincinnati end a four game losing streak and dent New York’s play-off hopes. Manning, meanwhile, followed up his disappointing performance against Pittsburgh with another below-par display against Cincinnati, finishing with 29 of 46 attempts for 215 yards, including two intercepted passes that both led to touchdowns. Despite the offensive unit’s poor run of form, Manning has made it clear to the football news that he is confident the team can get back to winning ways in time to get their play-off charge back on track. “No, I’m not worried,” Manning said. “Over the years, we’ve gone through stretches where we haven’t played our best football and we’ve been able to bounce out of that, and that’s what’s going on right now.” addthis_url = 'http%3A%2F%2Fcuzoogle.com%2F2012%2F11%2F15%2Fgiants-shock-defeat-sums-up-recent-run%2F'; addthis_title = 'Giants+Shock+Defeat+Sums+up+Recent+Run'; addthis_pub = '';
