The New York Giants looked to fortify their depleted secondary by signing veteran cornerback Brian Williams.
The Giants lost starting cornerback Terrell Thomas and backup Brian Witherspoon for the season with torn ACLs suffering in Monday's 41-13 preseason win over Chicago.
In addition, cornerback Prince Amukamara, the team's first-round draft pick, is recoving from surgery on a fractured foot and is expected to miss at least the first month of the regular season.
Williams, 32, appeared in 16 games with the Atlanta Falcons, registering 35 tackles and one sack. He has 19 career interceptions in nine seasons.
