The Giants have attempted to fill the void left by Ramses Barden as the team’s third wide receiver this weekend against Philadelphia by signing Derek Hagan to a one-year contract. Hagan spent the 2009 season as a special teams star and backup wide receiver, but never got the call to contribute much in the regular season. He only had eight catches, 101 yards, and one touchdown in all of last year. Before that he was a minor contributor for the Miami Dolphins before they cut him after the 2008 season. Hagan had a very solid preseason in both years he spent with the team. He was on the training camp roster each of the last two seasons, but his loss of passion for special teams forced the team to cut him because of the sheer depth at the wide receiver position. Surprisingly, no team claimed him and he has yet to play a game in the 2010 season.
