The New York Giants have been surveying the market to find an option to bolster their running back situation. The pickings were slim, especially after they had already signed Brandon Jacobs off the scrap heap. After working out several backs, the Giants have agreed to sign free agent Peyton Hillis, according to Mike Garafolo of FOX Sports.

Hillis is best known for his time with the Cleveland Browns. During the 2010 campaign he rushed for 1,177 yards and 11 touchdowns. He’s since been mediocre at best during stints with the Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Giants saw Ahmad Bradshaw leave via free agency over the offseason, and they lost David Wilson to injury earlier this season. They’ve re-signed Da’Rel Scott after cutting ties with him, and they’ve also brought back Jacobs.
