It might have been a technicality but Osi Umenyiora's contract for the 2013 season was voided on Thursday when the two-time Pro Bowl defensive end remained on the Giants' roster several days after the Super Bowl, the Newark Star-Ledger reported. The provision allowed the Giants to spread Umenyiora's $5 million cap hit from 2012 over two seasons, according to the Star-Ledger. Although Umenyiora has expressed a desire to return to the Giants in 2013, he just as likely could be playing for the other tenants of MetLife Stadium next season. In an interview with the New York Post last week in New Orleans, Umenyiora indicated that he could fit in well with the Jets. Umenyiora, a second-round pick by the Giants out of Troy in 2003, has 75 sacks in his 10-year NFL career. “Rex Ryan, when I was coming out of college, he was with Baltimore at the time. He came down to work me out at Troy, he came to Atlanta, just me and him,” Umenyiora told The Post. “We had a pretty good time out there so I've always enjoyed him as a coach and as a person. That might be a good fit.” Source: CBS Sports

Giants Re-Sign DT Shaun Rogers

The New York Giants have announced that they have re-signed DT Shaun Rogers, via Giants.com. The specifics of Rogers’ contract are not listed in the article, but it’s very likely that this is a one-year deal. Rogers, 33, had a blood clot in his left calf back in August, which led the team to place him on season-ending injured reserve. Clearly the Giants were looking to add...

The Pros and Cons of Signing Osi Umenyiora

I get into a bad mood every time I hear this guy's name. However, if you can not beat them, join them. Or pay them enough to join you. The Patriots obviously have struggled on defense to get pressure on the quarterback and keep good coverage on the opposing wide receivers, thus they make quarterbacks like Mark Sanchez look like superstars. Chandler Jones provided a small spark...

Giants Release RB Ahmad Bradshaw

Sucks to be a running back in the NFL sometimes, and especially with bad feet.  Per Pro Football Talk, the New York Giants have released running back Ahmad Bradshaw. The move will safe the Giants $3.75 million in cap space, and hand the job over to 2nd year running back David Wilson provided he can hang onto the football. Bradshaw rushed for 1,050 yards in 14 games last season and...

With Ahmad Bradshaw’s Release, Great ’07 Draft Class Almost Gone From Giants

Ahmad Bradshaw proved to be a draft day steal for Giants GM Jerry Reese. (Al Bello/Getty Images) In this era of sports we see players come and go from our teams too often. So often that fans my age (22) and younger don’t really appreciate the connection with their favorite teams players. With free agency and the draft at its peak in popularity, we love seeing new players in our...

Former Giants RB Ahmad Bradshaw Leaving Door Open For Possible Return

Former New York Giants running back Ahmad Bradhsaw told a radio station that it is possible that he could return to the franchise in the future. Though Bradshaw told WFAN that the Giants told him they had to move on from him being their running back, they did mention there could be a chance they want to bring him back in the future. "It was mentioned,” Bradshaw told the...

The Giants Cash Out

By all means, lose this guy Today, the NY Giants released three reasonably good players for the simple crime of having played long enough, and well enough, to cost actual money. The moves allow the club to get under the salary cap now, and potentially free up cash later for more important assets like WRs Hakeem Nicks and Victor Cruz. And if you are a fan of the laundry, you'...
