The talk around the New York Giants has been about the team signing restricted free agent wide receiver Victor Cruz to a long-term contract, but the Giants are putting more emphasis on getting a new deal signed with wide receiver Hakeem Nicks. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Giants view Nicks as the No. 1 receiver and want to sign him to a long-term contract.  He has one year remaining on his current deal.   Nicks, 25, dealt with a knee and foot injury in 2012 and failed to record a 1,000 yard receiving year for the first time since 2009. In 2010 and 2011, Nicks averaged 77.5 catches, 1,122 yards and nine touchdowns. The Giants would also like to keep 26-year-old Cruz, but Giants co-owner John Mara has said he wants Cruz on the team but only for a reasonable price.   "We certainly want him back, but like with any player, there's a limit to where we're going to go," the Giants' co-owner told reporters Friday. "He's been a terrific player for us, he's a fan favorite, he does a lot for our franchise, but there is a limit." Cruz has averaged 84 receptions, 1,314 yards and 9.5 touchdowns in the past two seasons.

Two-time Super Bowl Champion Eli Manning took exception to Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco saying it was ‘retarded’ to have a Super Bowl in the NY/NJ area. Manning went right at Flacco, pointing out his distaste for his verbiage, and the fact it has taken two Super Bowls for people not to mistake him for Peyton in New York City. Victor Cruz Willing To Hold Out For A New Contract?

Giants WR Victor Cruz didn’t rule out the possibility that he could hold out for a new contact if talks regarding a long-term deal don’t progress in the coming months. “I have no answer to that,” said Cruz when asked if he would be willing to hold out. Cruz will be a restricted free agent in the next few months, but the two sides appear to be no closer to reaching an agreement...

Victor Cruz Could Hold-Out If Giants Don’t Give Him New Deal

Things can turn for the worse in a few seconds in this new age of social media and rumor mills.  For months we’ve been hearing about Victor Cruz and the New York Giants almost certainly coming to an agreement on a new deal, it was just about when. Things have began to stall for the Pro Bowl wide receiver and the Giants, and now both parties are getting antsy.  Owner John Mara...

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the New York Giants have placed a higher priority on extending wide receiver Hakeem Nicks’ contract than Victor Cruz, who’s going to be a restricted free agent. Giants owner John Mara has already indicated that Cruz is asking for too much money.  With Cruz being a RFA, they don’t need to rush to sign him, which gives the Giants some leverage...

“Elite” Joe Flacco’s Super Bowl performance means cash in his pocket

I think at this point every NFL quarterback is hoping they get cornered in the offseason with the “Do you think you are an elite quarterback in the NFL” question. It certainly worked for Eli Manning in 2011 and now Joe Flacco in 2012. Flacco’s excellent end of the regular season, playoff run, and ultimate [...]The post “Elite” Joe Flacco’s Super Bowl performance means...
