The New York Giants are feeling dwarfish after discovering minutes later that, thanks to the Bears, they won’t be qualified for the dance that they’ve successfully dominated in the last half of this decade. Since 2007, Eli Manning and Head Coach Tom Coughlin have celebrated two Super Bowls victories. Coach Coughlin justified in his post-game interview, “The other thing that we look back at is, we have two divisional losses by a couple of points!” In reasoning with his team’s last couple falling-outs, he confessed that there were no answers – and immediately reassured his support for his team, saying that he was proud of the men and the way they played today. Due to their weak divisional record this time around, New York fans must wish they could have back the close losses against Philadelphia and Washington, but more than that, the giant lesson of all: don’t  squander their wide margin of wins next season. Remember, they started this one with a 6-2 record and could easily have been the best wild-card squad in the postseason. Unfortunately, they’ll have to spectate from the stands now. Eli ends 2012 with 5 TD passes in win

Eli Manning threw a career-high five touchdown passes and the New York Giants left with a 42-7 win over Philadelphia on Sunday in what might have been Andy Reid's final game as the Eagles' coach. The Giants (9-7) needed to beat the Eagles (4-12), but have been eliminated from the playoff race thanks to Chicago's win over Detroit. The defending Super Bowl champions did...

Giants frustrated but hopeful after 9-7 mark

There is an obvious reason why the New York Giants went from a Super Bowl champion to a frustrated team that missed the playoffs. It's consistency. Tom Coughlin's team lacked it in 2012 despite finishing with the same 9-7 record as a year ago when a late rush took them to their second title in five seasons. This year there was no late rush. Just two bad games against Atlanta...

Giants lack late season magic this time around

In reality, this all could have happened last year for the New York Giants. If not for a Victor Cruz 99-yard touchdown catch against the New York Jets, or if not for a spirited blowout win over the Dallas Cowboys in Week 17, the New York Giants never would have won their second Super Bowl in four years. This time around, the Giants lack late season magic and things didn’t fall...

G-Men let themselves down in 2012

The temperature gauge read 32 as the New York Giants plodded off the field following their 42-7 win over the Philadelphia Eagles Sunday, but the steady winds that whipped through MetLife Stadium had it feeling more like the teens, especially once the sun began to dip below the horizon of the stadium lights, fading like the home team's playoff hopes. Most of the 80,657 fans who...
