This weekend, the Chargers took a big home opening win against the Tennessee Titans. The Chargers didn't let the Titans offense move whatsoever and is emerging to be one of the best defenses the team has seen in several years.  Not only did they just beat the Titans at home, but all other AFC West teams lost in their week two games.  Kansas City losing on the road to the Buffalo Bills, Oakland losing big in Miami, and Denver losing on the big stage on Monday night to Atlanta.  Not just for the simple pleasure of seeing the other teams lose, the losses of other West teams places the Bolts in the number one spot with momentum heavily in their favor. All signs are pointing to a rather weak AFC West this year (compared to years past). For fantasy owners, QB Philip Rivers came through big time this weekend. Throwing for 284 yards and 3 touchdowns. Manyof the Charger faithful end up picking Rivers and this weekend, they should be rather pleased and excited for what is in store. ...

Chargers Week 3 Preview: Atlanta Falcons

Sunday, the Chargers will go head to head with the white hot Atlanta Falcons at Qualcomm Stadium. Both teams will be defending their undefeated records this season.  To come out of week three with a perfect record, the Chargers will need to get the run game going. The hopeful return of Ryan Mathews should be the solution to this. If Mathews does not return, the Chargers will need...

Play time is over for the Chargers as real season begins

Now, I know you had a nice long summer to loaf around on the couch downing Cheetos and playing Xbox. You’re probably still having trouble getting up so early in the morning to catch your bus, and the first two weeks of the new year were pretty much walkthroughs to get you back into the swing of things. But don’t think that acing your first tests against a rebuilding Oakland Raiders...

San Diego Chargers: Week 3 NFL Power Rankings (#7)

Last week: 8 (+1) Record: 2-0 No, I’m not convinced the Chargers have suddenly become good in the 1st half of the season. The Raiders and the Titans suck. They’ll have a test this week when Atlanta comes to town. That being said, I think this is still the favorite in the AFC West. The Broncos are not a finished product, as you saw in Monday Night, and they have a tougher schedule...

Mathews has missed the first two weeks while recovering from a broken collarbone.Fantasy Spin:We expect Mathews to handle close to a full workload this week. He was physically ready to go last week...

Antonio Gates Practices Thursday

San Diego tight end Antonio Gates (ribs) practiced Thursday for the second straight day, according to Michael Gehlken of the San Diego Union-Tribune.Fantasy Spin:Gates was a surprise inactive late Sunday afternoon, leaving many fantasy owners without another tight end option, so it's difficult to trust his availability for Week 3. Gates owners should add Dante Rosario (3 TDs...

Ryan Mathews on Track to Play Week 3

Ryan Mathews practiced again today and Chargers head coach Norv Turner raved about his practice performance. Mathews owners should feel pretty confident considering Mathews was apparently ready to play last week but the Chargers played it safe.

Chargers sign 28-year-old rookie to practice squad

The San Diego Chargers have signed 28-year-old rookie wide receiver Marques Clark to the practice squad. Clark was with the New Orleans Saints in training camp. Most recently he was the wide receivers coach for Westview High in San Diego, his hometown. Clark played at Henderson State, where he had 91 career passes for 1,456 yards and 11 touchdowns. He spent the last six years out...

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly: Titans @ Chargers 9/16/2012

The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly   Tennessee 10 @ San Diego 38   By Eric Judd   @ericjuddTSHQ     The Good Rosario. That’s spelled R-O- Dante Rosario. Dante Rosario might have earned himself the most money during week 2. Replacing, or even imitating Antonio Gates, has been the Holy Grail of Tight Ends. Not only was Rosario able to produce in place of Gates, he was able to produce...

Atlanta Falcons (2-0) at San Diego Chargers (2-0)

Atlanta Falcons (2-0) at San Diego Chargers (2-0) The Chargers are one of just six 2-0 teams left in the NFL. Have they conquered their early season woes? They certainly look good. They’ve used 7 of their last 8 picks in the first 3 rounds on defensive players and it seems to have paid off while veterans like Quentin Jammer and Shaun Phillips seem to be holding things together...

One of the marquee matchups this weekend will feature the 2-0 Atlanta Falcons visiting the 2-0 San Diego Chargers.
