By Jim Donaldson Patriots kicker Stephen Gostkowski, who had a bad game last Sunday in Pittsburgh, continues to struggle, pulling an almost-automatic, 27-yard, field goal attempt wide left just before halftime.
The Pats, after driving from their own 9-yard line, had a first down at the New York 11 with 55 seconds left in the half and appeared about to break a scoreless tie.
But not only did they fail to get the ball into the end zone, they also failed to get on the scoreboard after Gostkowski's miss from chip-shot range.
Against the Steelers, Gostkowski hit the right upright with a 42-yarder late in the third quarter.
Then, in the fourth quarter, with the Patriots trailing by six points with 2:35 to go following a 67-yard touchdown drive, Gostkowski attempted an onside kick that failed to go the necessary 10 yards, giving Pittsburgh possession at the N.E. 37.]]>
